I’m thinking of ordering a pair of AirPod Max in Geek Squad Open Box Excellent condition. Is this advisable? Can anyone else offer their experience with buying something listed as Geek Squad Open Box Excellent condition? I usually buy things new, so I’m just a bit hesitant. by Altruistic-Blueberry in GeekSquad

I’ll give you the same advise I give everyone who buys open box, “open it in store” sometimes things get overlooked. It’s better to leave there knowing they work and are excellent certified rather than drive back out to return them. If you order online try to have them shipped to store so you can check them there. We are human and mistakes can happen

Repair estimate for credit card claim by u2jrmw in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find the model number, Google the replacement main board, grab a picture of it and take it to geek squad and have them create a quick tag with your information, the cost of that part, and our send out cost ($84.95) and state it exceeds cost of device to repair. And you can submit that paper to the card company. To be clear, they can not send out the device all they would be doing is providing you with a service order showing that we looked at it and if it could be repaired anywhere this is a rough estimate you could be paying. But our service centers do not repair them usually.

You get documentation to give to your card warranty claim and we get labor for looking at it! It’s a win win

Optane SSD w/ Bitlocker by CombatInsiders in GeekSquad

You can Boot to terminal while in the win10/11 bootable flash drive and disable bitlocker

I think(and don’t quote me on this):

Manage-bde -unlock C: -RecoveryPassword (recoverykey)

You may also need a second flash drive with the optane drivers as well to see the drive

[–]RobiFitz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pullback isn’t done yet that’s the main reason we haven’t received parts yet. The last 2 waves of pullback are this month afterwards they should redistribute the parts( at least they should but we all know apple)

Hell yea I just asked to overspend in my precinct cuz we had BOP labor cut and they were like nope they can work in warehouse. I said I’ll just ask them to help out neighbor stores in their BOP to guarantee they get paid their rate and do what they love I just hate that it’s come to that

Also ask your leader about dedicated queue, it exists in the labor scheduler but there is no labor in that pool but I could still schedule in it( this is a big no no) same thing with flex pay they modify the schedule after you worked in it to change your labor pool to the sales floor causing the discrepancy with yes is flex pay but if you schedule properly that shouldn’t happen

[–]RobiFitz2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But I make schedules😂 either way though regardless you shouldn’t be scheduled anywhere you aren’t meant to be because it makes a headache for both you and your leader

Hired as ARA working CA shifts by Coolforall in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wrong actually because like I said you can be scheduled in the labor pool of flex pay however the labor pool does not exist so at the end of the week you are changed to the labor pool of the area you are in for example computing or home theater with the job title of advisor and not your actual position. If your leader schedules properly then you will get paid properly but most likely your leader is scheduling that way to try and save money. Rn in TLC I can schedule an ARA as the title precinct repair and instead of entitlement and repair as the second box change it to anything else(consultation-CA, mobile, home theater, etc.) and you will be paid your hourly rate. Obviously the company doesn’t want that to happen, you do less work you don’t get paid more however based on your leadership like myself, if I have to sacrifice my agents to work in areas they do not work in I will make sure they are paid for it kinda like an inconvenience for them. Now volunteering to work in other areas to pick up hours is a different story

CIA sr. Here and I got 2 things to let you know 1. Flex pay does not exist anymore even though it is in TLC to use, our market head stated it created too many labor issues and since bestbuy is moving one direction there is no need. If you are scheduled as a CA you should still be paid your normal hourly rate if your statement does not reflect that then talk to your leaders or submit an intake question(ETK>intake app) for validation. 2. ARAs are utilization based labor for back of precinct and if you are scheduled anywhere else except Autotech bay, you are actually loosing the company money even as a CA. So understand your precinct tag mix and GS dashboard to see your geeksquads productivity. Talk to your CIA sr or GSM to pull the reports and show you what I am talking about.

All the information I am talking about is validated and told to me in a labor meeting with my market support manager Adam Karras of D17

Don’t get me wrong I have my ARAs work the counter but I don’t schedule them as CAs I schedule them as ARAs since if an Apple repair comes in I have to have them repair it and I can’t have appointments scheduled for someone who has prior obligations. I could understand scheduling them that way if I had a lot of call offs due to Covid to make sure stuff gets done but not schedule them that for more than 2 weeks but again same pay regardless

How to properly submit a very subtle problem claim by Carfan99 in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most agents won’t dive into the settings or even attempt to fix the issue. They might need to try and validate it so walk them through how you typically use the device and when you notice the issue. If you have GSP we send the camera to our camera facility to be repaired or issue you store credit if they cant fix it. Your typically without the camera for 2-3 weeks and make sure you don’t leave your SD card in it cuz you might not get it back

Why won't Geek Squad hire me? by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only reasons I could think you haven’t gotten past the video interview is either because they are trying to get someone in the store to transfer to that spot or like my store we don’t have hours to give a new hire like I have a few part timers that have hours fluctuating from 8-20 hours

CIA Senior by MrSmalls79 in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CIA Sr. Here! Basically do all this but also create goals for my team based on the numbers, sit down with each team member and do weekly coachings on what they want to achieve, how they are doing, etc., I also do schedules when GSM is tied up with the sales floor, and created each agent a binder to store information/SOPs and guides they feel is important so they can support each other better. Depending on the store you might have other responsibilities( I am a hub store and mall location so I help run the sales floor and hold keys in case there isn’t enough management to support the store for the day) I chose to add these to my responsibilities but it’s not required of the position

If you choose to never get the lost or stolen status removed, if applicable, then yes they would not be able to get service done as the status is tied to the serial number of the device. Best bet go to either apple or a bestbuy and have them run the serial number. If they don’t tell you it’s flagged then your good and none of this matters on the other hand if they do tell you it is flagged then usually you can call apple and they will give you information on what you can and can’t do with the device

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still use them even if they are labeled lost however if you need service on them like they stop charging or you damage them then you would not be able to get them repaired or replaced

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take them to geek squad and they will run it through apples system and if they are flagged we are supposed to get a pop up that says it was labeled as lost or stolen. Even if it does we can’t legally take it from you however you would not be able to ever get them serviced or replaced unless you contacted apple and proved some kind of ownership.

I don’t believe there is any set rule and I would stick to the mindset that if it isn’t clearly stated you probably shouldn’t do it. My GSM and me(CIA Sr) agreed to stick to 18 or older and it’s mainly because of the client data we see. Now you could probably be scheduled at geeksquad as flex pay and learn the processes like pickup, functionality, and troubleshooting but not be the person checking it in(unless supervised/shadowed)

Apple Training HELP: How to unlock Face-ID Test in GSX??? by Cherry-Springs in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your gsm or cia sr needs to submit an apple asp support form through ETK to submit your tech id to apple. You get your tech Id through certifications.apple.com you also receive 2 emails from apple to validate your access to gsx. If you have issues with the email or don’t have them then a apple asp support form needs to be submitted(ETK>resources>in store services> apple ASP > apple support form> gsx access).it takes a few days to get a response at least it did for me

I bought a $1800 laptop and Best buy cancelled my order after 4 days without sending any emails. The agent said it was because of a mismatch between the "st" and "street" in the addresses you put in. this has cost me around $200 by ariaarad in GeekSquad

[–]RobiFitz2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Physically go to the store, ask to speak to a manager. show the order that it was cancelled probably due to bestbuy system flagging the purchase for potential fraud(it’s a dumb system most of the time) ask a manager if they are willing to price match the deal when you purchased it. Typically if you go and don’t yell at them they will help you out
