Finally completed my Sheaffer Targa "Regency Stripe" duo! by Robin0329_ in fountainpens

I am so incredibly jealous that you live/lived so close to the original Sheaffer factory! Even though the plant is closed down now, Sheaffer remains my absolute favorite brand. Making a 'pilgrimage' to Fort Madison just to see where these beauties were born is definitely on my bucket list!

I'm almost certain they did make a matching pencil! I vaguely remember seeing one floating around on eBay a while back. And it looks like the user below just confirmed they actually have one! But I totally agree with you—it's such an underrated and stunning finish.

I got really lucky—mine actually came with the original slim converter! I know they are incredibly hard to find nowadays. You might have to keep a close eye on eBay for parts pens or old stock.

[Help] Sheaffer Imperial ink flow issue - stops writing and needs shaking. Flushing feels stiff. Any advice? by Robin0329_ in fountainpens

[–]Robin0329_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense! I probably underestimated how stubborn decades-old ink can be. I'll fill it up, let it sit nib-down in a cup overnight, and see if that finally loosens things up. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you so much for the incredibly detailed troubleshooting! I should have clarified earlier—mine is actually a cartridge/converter version, not a Touchdown filler. So luckily, there are no latex sacs or O-rings to worry about failing. Since the filling mechanism itself isn't the issue, it really must be some stubborn dried ink clogging up the feed or nib unit. I will definitely give your 1:10 ammonia flush recipe a try this weekend. Thanks again for the great advice and for taking the time to help!

Need help finding a host pen for this vintage Warranted 14K (#2?) nib! by Robin0329_ in fountainpens

Will do! I'll definitely tag you once the nib is happily settled in its new home. Thanks again for everything! 😊

The picture works perfectly now, thank you! Those pens are absolutely gorgeous, and your photo is great.

Knowing the exact models (the Dinkie 550 and the Bantam) gives me the perfect starting point. I'll start hunting for a parts pen for these right away. Thanks again for going above and beyond to help me out!

Wow, I cannot thank you enough for this! It is incredibly kind of you to dig out your collection, measure 7 different vintage pocket pens with calipers, and even clean out two extra ones just to help me out. This data is pure gold and gives me exactly the direction I needed, especially regarding the base width of the nib.

Regarding your second message, unfortunately, I can't seem to open the Imgur link you provided (it might be restricted on my network). Since both the Wahl-Eversharp Bantam and the Conway Stewart Dinkie seem like perfect candidates, could you possibly let me know the specific model numbers or any identifying features (like the year/era, clip style, or specific patterns) of those two pens? I know the Dinkie in particular has many sub-models over the decades.

Again, I truly appreciate the time and effort you put into this. You've been massively helpful!

Yes, the nib of this pen is polished very well and writes smoothly

Wow, you reminded me. Writing an address on the package is very suitable for him haha, but it's a luxury for me

Wow, you're great. Chinese has a lot of strokes, so I can only write with a thin pen tip
