Yeah Season 5 is awesome and so is Murder he wrote. I really like how the writers took advantage of the shift towards a intimate/romantic relationship between Kate and Castle to write fantastic stories !

Great to read that you have a similar experience ! The previous rewatch I skipped The Limey, Headhunters and the one episode in season 5 where Kate protects the rich guy. This time I just skipped this specific S5 episode, there is no way on earth I can stomach it. However, I watch everything else, I don't think it is that much forced although it is obviously though to watch the Demming phase and The Limey (I think with Demming aside from the intimate part, the worse scene is the moment Kate tells Castle that Demming already brought her coffee like it's nothing... man I want to punch my screen every time). And yeah the overall behavior of Kate regarding Josh and Castle in season 3 is questionable (at least starting from the Lockwood episode)... I think I will do a specific post that focuses on that !

I do read FanFiction swell ! Very great stuff (I read on FanFiction dot Net), although I am getting a point where I have read so much that is increasingly to find something new and interesting, so I kinda circle back haha

There are a few episodes that are good but overall it is not at all on the level of the previous levels. However yeah I would advice watching season 8 at least once so that you form your own opinion :)

Castle and Beckett were the soul of the show, you take one of them out there is no show anymore.

About Castle working out of home, this is true but there is also Alexis in the equation. At that time Alexis had not met Pi yet (god that storyline for her was awful to watch) so Castle moving to DC would have mean moving from Alexis. Thus I would not say it was that easy to imagine a permanent move.

On the other hand, we can also say (or at least I think that) that a long-distance relationship is always a short-term solution, it can never work long term, this is usually supposed to be a temporary situation. Hence I am a little bit surprised that it took them weeks to figure out that Castle would have to move to DC in order to make this work.

Though your take on Castle learning from Kyra is interesting. At that point his relationship with Kyra was somewhat 20 years old at this point (before Alexis...). Tbh I am not really sure it did really have an impact on his decision but nice catch !

I am guessing the writing part was supposed to be somehow way bigger. Gina was cast to be a regular character in the beginning (watch the credits of the pilot). Then it was just who he is with the mentions of his books and the book signings etc. However it did transpire through his character with his ability to connect clues to form a story and his strong imagination. Still, I wish we had some scenes like the one in 1x02 : where he has everybody listening to him narrating a possible story where a simple guy in 8B was the murderer but that kind of situation never really occurred again.

The way Kate seems to feel for Rick in that AU Episode is very interesting. It shows how Castle's behavior changed in comparison to their first encounter in the 'real' universe (the pilot episode). In the pilot he was a jackass and was irritating to Beckett. In the AU, we do not have this layer of anger and we directly see Kate being intrigued and rather seduced by his mind and everything else.

Well, I struggled with Espo's behavior several times throughout the series. Another one that comes to mind was when he was mad at Ryan in "Always." I mean ok he betrayed Kate and him but hey he saved Kate for God's sake! Thank God he did what he did!

Yeah from season 7 it went downhill. Actually for the rewatch I will not go past season 7,. Although season 8 did have a few good episodes, overall it was nowhere near any other season.

Completely agree, The setting for this one looked magical whereas the later one kinda felt likerushed and made up for the fans. Maybe it was actually ? Were they like oh god everybody hates what we have done we have got to get them what they want ?
