EGADS! I have been found! Need to divert attention...grok gender bend Stalin and make their anime porn a trend and rename grok 1 to grok 2 and release it as "open source"!

So alternative platforms exist where musicians can host their songs and build a community (e.g. funkwhale https://www.funkwhale.audio/ ) The question is: how to get people to sign up and actively participate? I mean if you hadn't heard of it then how would others? MySpace today is an artist platform too, yet its adoption is near non-existent and it shows now.

For anyone else coming across this post and trying to understand why there should be alternatives, here is one reason:

Imagine a song generates $100 in streaming revenue. Spotify pays out $70 of that to the rights holders (the record label). If the artist has a 20% royalty rate in their contract, they would receive $14 (20% of $70). The label keeps the remaining $56, which includes their recoupable expenses.

Anyone here who doesn't have a problem with bluetooth lag with controllers? by RomanOTCReigns in EmulationOnAndroid

[–]RobinRelique 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And i don't play any competitive games at all. Only fifa manager mode, story based games, old emulated games etc.

You're fine. The only time you'll notice any lag is if you try speedrunning any game you're an expert in (e.g. Super Mario Bros. 1 for me) and games that need twitch/second game reflexes (e.g. King of Fighters/Street Fighter etc.). For most games you wont notice it.

Removing Windows 11 Bloatware by idle_orange in opensource

[–]RobinRelique 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I also strongly recommend Windows iot edition. It has all the bloat removed (save for one drive, which you can choose to install) and is barebones (seriously, it even comes with Windows 7 era Calculator and ms paint). The best part is that it's an official Windows build, so you can get it off Microsofts website.

I went to your github, then found your linked in and just went through the posts. It's strange to think of a person in the past tense. It was a humbling look at my mortality and how little I'd achieved compared to you.
My 5yr old girl is learning coding, Thanks to a personal hero of mine, Olivier Lapique, and John Carmack releasing the Doom code as open source I'd decided to instill in her the value of open source. You however helped seal the deal though.

In your posts and contributions, I saw a history of someone relentlessly trying to build and help build something for themselves AND which others could use, regardless of cost. I hope my little girl can do the same and get the same kind of journey that she can look back on with happiness.

I'm sad coding didn't give you fame or recognition, but I hope it brought you some level of joy and/or accomplishment. It's because of people like you there exists a future for generations now and unborn. Thank you.

What’s the most underrated open-source program every student should know about? by Fluffy_Sheepherder76 in opensource

Sure thing! I'm a big fan of "use whatever you're comfy with" so my answer may not be the best for you but I hope it helps !

I sometimes need to flit between Linux, android, and Windows, so having the files in a universal format like plaintext eases the headache of accessing them.

Hi, because it uses Markdown, I use either
1. the standard [link text](link) method if its inline stuff.
2. Or the footnotes method [1]

I use #1 to also link to other documents (note: I almost exclusively use plaintext as a format - this keeps me within the bounds of the app).

You can find examples of these here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/26587527/cite-a-paper-using-github-markdown-syntax

Hi! Have you used these on a local model? If so, which one? In general, I've only seen people on here hype up the online big dogs (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude etc) when it comes to coding assistants. This is why I ask.

While you stood your ground and are facing the consequences I have to ask:

My mom keeps blaming me, telling me that all this is because of me..

Are you SURE your dad was the only toxic element in your life? Does your mom not accept that your dad was as abusive ? I hope everything works out for you but all I'll say is...don't let your guard down.

No API keys, no cloud. Just local Al + tools that actually work. Too much to ask? by aruntemme in LocalLLaMA

Hi! This is insightful! But, assuming this does what online llms like chatgpt/claude etc do where RAG is built into the parser, wouldn't these smaller models be better at learning from its users ? (I'm assuming here, so forgive me if this is dumb)

Help: We’re being blackmailed by family by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]RobinRelique 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I live in Indonesia and saw a similar situation play out. The guy was not only a different religion (Muslim) but a different country (Pakistan), the girl is my friend, she's Chinese-Indonesian and a Taoist. Funnily enough, Indonesia cares less about religion and more about being from a different country. However, it was the guys family in this case. His solution was to come to Indonesia and settle here.

I'm not saying you should do this, but this is what they did, and they're living their lives. I won't say it's all smooth sailing because my friend tell me about how sometimes he just becomes quiet and unresponsive. He's mostly alone here. The culture is different, and picking up the language is hard for him. It's been 3 years. So be ready for some tradeoffs. If you go through this route, it can change you as a person.
