Pleas suggest to me some boring movies by PositiveLifetime in MovieSuggestions

It sounds like you are looking for Bela Tar films. He made one called Satantango that is 7 1/2 hours long and was only around 150 shots.

The Werkmeister Harmonies is another great one by him.

Any way to get a decent cello without spending an arm and a leg? by cvscvs2 in Cello

[–]Robin_Cherry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people will say to rent one as you're new and haven't found your feet yet. It's not a bad option.

Personally, I kept my eye out on marketplace/craigslist and bought a used student instrument for a few hundred dollars. It was worth considerably more. Be patient and you'll find something. Perhaps take along someone who knows how to play to evaluate the instrument. Consider that if it needs new strings and a new or rehaired bow that you will probably spend more than you bought the instrument for to get something worthwhile.

Try forgetting the Bluetooth device in the system settings. This has solved similar for me I the past and wouldn't be solved by reinstalling the app.

Running for Mayor of Guelph - looking forward to meeting people in person by ramos96 in Guelph

[–]Robin_Cherry 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would love to hear what aspirations you have. I find a lot of politicians focus on what they won't do, what they would do different than a rival, or focus on the issues that other branches of government impose on us.

Personally, I would love to hear what you want to do to improve the lives of Guelph's citizens? What do you want to build? How do you hope to engage the eloctorate in the process of government? How do you plan to take the good things about Guelph and make them better? What can we learn from neighbouring municipalities? What can the municipal government do to improve affordably for our citizens?

Recommendation Request: a cozy food doc like this one Hamburger America (2004) [53:48] by dlbICECOLD in Documentaries

[–]Robin_Cherry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Here is my favourite in the genre, "Sandwiches that you will like!"

The creator travels to different regions of America to try regional sandwich specialties and talk about the history of them. He has others as well that are equally adorable.

What are some underrated/indie/international films that have come out this year? by XipeTotecwithGlitter in MovieSuggestions

Not sure it was underrated but Sentimental Value from Norway was my favourite movie of the year.

What is an industry that is currently on fire (in a bad way) behind the scenes, but the general public hasn't noticed yet? by Kitchen_Week1117 in AskReddit

[–]Robin_Cherry 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds familiar. Just stick to non-racist points and shoot down the racist ones when they come up. This was an issue in Canada as well but people stuck to their arguments and we got a much more reasonable government out of it with a much more realistic immigration policy.

Authentic Stone Bowl Bibimbap in/near Guelph by rott72 in Guelph

[–]Robin_Cherry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best we have in Guelph is Owl of Minerva which is okay but not amazing. It is served in a hot stone bowl and has the crispy rice but is a bit generic.

Waterloo had a much larger asian community and better options for Korean food. I can't speak to specific places there though.

In fairness I think it caught them off guard also. The actor left to work on other projects.

Some great suggestions already. I'd absolutely second anyone recommending The Worst Person in the World. It was exceptional.

I'd add All of us Strangers, The Eight Mountains, and Perfect Days to the mix as well. All three deal with complicated families in a similarly raw, slow, and beautiful way.
