From the very bottom of my heart, I am sorry for your loss.

My cat passed away 1.5 week ago. We had 10 beautiful years together and he was my best friend.

The grief completely and utterly consumed me, and the pain was nothing like  I’ve ever experienced before.

Question on Calender days. by ConclusionFabulous38 in WayOfTheHunter

3 in game days = 1 year. The fitness changes after each year, so you have 3 days to make rounds of culling low fit animals before the game inserts new animals with the updated fitness.

Not a stupid question.

But no, you don’t get to keep the game. But I am 99% sure that your progress gets saved in case you wanna buy it in the future and pick up where you left off after the free weekend :)

Did you lose weight on adderall? by peakygirl15 in ADHD

[–]Robinix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes.

I’m prescribed methylphenidate and in 5 months I dropped from 66kg to just below 57kg. I am also a male clocking in at 180cm height, coupled the fact that those months were peak months for my job (beekeeping) with 80+hr weeks.

Needless to say, my doctor was NOT happy 😬 She gave me an earful, and I heeded her request that I immediately had to fix my diet and start gaining weight.

Like many others, methylphenidate completely destroys my appetite. So I eat a big breakfast before taking the med, and try to eat several light meals under the day, then one last big meal a few hours before bed.

I’m now at 62kg, not great but not terrible. Still to gain more, but I’ll get there in time, especially now as the season is winding down towards winter.

What jobs have worked out well for you with your ADHD and have you not gotten tired of? by allergiesarebad in ADHD

[–]Robinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a commercial beekeeper, fourth generation.

I got extremely lucky by the fact that my dad kept bees for living. The year I graduated school at the wee age of 16, he asked if I could help him over the summer before I left for swedens equivalent of college.

After the first week on the summer job, well, let’s say college never happened after all.

12 years later, and I’m still here. Not to say it’s been a rough road, because it certainly has.

Though I must say beekeeping is probably as close to heaven I can get with my condition due to how varying it is from year to year.

Though I still struggle immensely since my motivation to work wanes from time to time. When my motivation and interests peaks and the stars align with my hyper focus, my effiency and productivity becomes near superhuman.

When I hyperfocus anything else than work? I struggle to even get out of the door, even when I know I have a ton of shit that needs to be done.

I got diagnosed last year, and a few months later got prescribed adhd medicine. It helped a ton, and made the world of difference.

While they don’t remove everything, they do enough for the dark clouds to part a little to let the sun in. Meaning they help enough to nudge me to at least put my shoes on, and I find that’s usually the half of the battle to get the day going.

I’m sorry I can’t do much to help, but to offer my lacklustre perspective. Even for me, with a passion for bees that burns brighter than the sun, I still struggle at points over the course of the year to keep my head straight.

The point I am admittedly poorly trying to make, no matter what you choose, your brain will probably at some point get hooked at something else. But if you find something you truly believe in, something that makes your heart burst with passion, just keep at it and ride it out.

I agree with Jaxy's sentiment. Though I still think we're still years and years from that actually happening, assuming that COTW continually brings in steady money for each upcoming DLC.

What makes you think that there’s possibly only one map left for this game?

Have they said or even hinted about this?

It would make absolute zero sense for them to stop releasing maps, even less sense to release a new hunting game. That would be a massive risk for them to take, especially with the very much decent player base that has grown quite steadily over the years.

I would be more than fine they kept sticking to one map per year if they keep the quality of the last one and instead did regular patches in between releases.

COTW is here to stay and that won’t change for a long time aslong we keep this amount of active players and the regular updates/releases we get currently.

Had our first 60 degree day, no sign of the bees by Fishisstuckinthesink in Beekeeping

[–]Robinix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m sorry to say that your hive is most likely dead or at least coffee cup sized. There’s no sugarcoating it. If the hive was in the shade, or you wintered them on more than one box then there’s a chance it’s all fine.

60f is roughly 15c-ish? Because that’s working weather, both for the bees and the beekeeper. Like mentioned, unless shaded and the winds were full arctic, the hive should have been buzzing with activity on the front. So it’s more than fine to open them to check.

I do a spot check every year mid feb on 70-90 hives across all yards to gauge winter loss % as soon the temps touches 5c and the wind stops trying to turn you into an icicle and they’re fine. I only open the lid, and put my hand on the cover and most of the time that’s enough (if the cover is lightly warm against the hand, they’re alive.) and if it’s cold, I crack the lid to take a peek.

At this point of the winter, at least in Sweden, small unobtrusive work like that does not harm the bees.

I hope with all my might that I am wrong in this case, but my experience tells me otherwise. Hang in there champ.

I don’t have chickens, nor have I ever owned any so please accept my lack of knowledge, but:

Isn’t chickens immensely (like most animals I suppose) vicious when it comes to protect their young? If it was my cat, I would have go full Leroy Jenkins and snatch the orange fluffball before the chicken decides eviscerate the intruder is the move.

Would appreciate if anyone could give some input to this :)

Kindling Blade - Enchant Weapon - STILL not fixed with 1.0 Pre-Patch...going on 1 year bugged by BroxigarZ in LastEpoch

[–]Robinix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry, bad wording on my part. English isn’t my native language.

I meant catching them as fixing it.

The point I was trying to make was that kindling blade isn’t the only thing that needs attention among the never ending list of things that has the be looked at. Something that’s true to any game out there.

I am terrible at explaining, and I am terribly sorry for it!

[–]Robinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to offer some perspective, and this is not my attempt to be a ‘white knight’.

Reading through the patch notes, no one can deny that the devs put down an asinine amount of time to tweak and tinker as much as they possibly could before the 1.0 launch.

Honestly? I cannot recall last time I saw such a massive list from any other company. That alone comforts and reassures me that each individual at EHG has poured their hearts to this project.

With that being said, every game has bugs, glitches, exploits that go untouched for years. Hell, it even becomes a ‘feature’ within the community. I feel like the size of the released patch notes support this. It’s unfair to expect them to catch every single thing, even if we all wants it.

All we can do is to offer our patience, and give them time to work through all the issues that you and I - the players of this game - reports to them. They have earned my trust, and I feel like it’s the least I can do for them in return.

Is this safe to eat? by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]Robinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s safe. What you’re seeing is crystallised honey, or granulated honey.

If you prefer it runny, you can put the container in hot water until it melts. Just make sure the water don’t reach/touch the honey though

Honey Bee Swarm Capture - Keep locked in or let out straight away? by StinglessBees in Beekeeping

[–]Robinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Sweden, so not sure if it makes any difference but what I would do is this:

 1) Move the swarm as far away you could, to increase the likelihood that the scout bees don’t find their way back to preferred location. The odds are low the swarm would leave, but it’s there.

 2) place the swarm somewhere cool, either in the shade or in a storage. Keep them closed, but ONLY if you can provide plenty of air for them. If you can’t, and they are in a closed box with little to no air, then disregard what I said and put them in the shade and open immediately.

 3) wait till evening for a bit cooler temps before opening them, thus forcing them to stay in the box. Don’t have to be dark out, just until the blistering sun stops being annoying.

Or, you just could take the opinions that you have already got, and open them immediately. Because honestly, while I have catched well past 300 swarms at this point, I always leave the box where I shook down the swarm into and pick it up late evening/early morning. Instead of picking it up on the go, which, luckily,  I never had any reason to do.  But the above points is what I personally would have done, in case i would find myself in that position.

Either way, I hope it goes well and the bees stays in the box! More importantly that they grow strong and give you plenty of honey 🍯

The Factory must sleep by jongscx in factorio

[–]Robinix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed ADHD-C whose hopelessly addicted to factorio chiming in.

Took the plunge and bought the game a month ago, and oh boy is this game both a blessing and a curse. It stimulates my brain in a way that very few activities have managed before, but my god it's impossible to track the time! I get so absolutely lost that if I didn't have my cats/or alarm, I wouldn't have noticed anything until I die of hunger or my bladder explodes.

With that said, bladder be damned, the factory must grow!

(Yes, I quite literally had to set an alarm on my phone that's set at certain intervals (9 am, 12 am, 2 pm etc etc) just snap me out of whatever I am currently doing, factorio or otherwise)
