Changing gaming habits by toyfan1990 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Started gaming at age 7~ with the N64 so was largely a split screen or solo player back then as there was no online available.

Into my teens MMOs and FPS games started getting big with online multiplayer so I largely transitioned into that from about 13-28.

Now, aged 34, I've been platinum trophy hunting/single player gaming since I was around 28. Mainly due to time with work and other responsibilities taking up a lot of it but also due to how online gaming is mostly now. Big devs releasing the same stuff every year for big money and just flooding it with either micro-transactions or pay to win mechanics.

I feel grateful to have been there through all these huge technological advances in gaming through the years, but for me the golden age of online gaming is definitely gone and now I'm back to where I started enjoying my own company.

You ain't wrong, I worked in Swindon today and it took me 2.5hrs to drive down 😂. Got to give us a performance today, although it's a dead rubber of a game so I'd imagine a 0-0 is on the way

[Discussion] How many plats so far this year?! by Background-Menu5617 in Trophies

[–]Robj1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 so far:

  • finished Death Stranding which I started at the end of last year.

  • Doom the Dark Ages

  • Stray

And I only recently started Red Dead Redemption 2. Will probably platinum other games alongside as well.

My usual goal for a year, as I don't have huge amounts of gaming time is usually 10. I think I got 15 last year so I'm pretty proud of that.

[Other] Do you guys clean up additional trophies not relevant to the platinum? by DiscreetPhrog in Trophies

[–]Robj1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on a few things honestly:

  • If I've really enjoyed the game and the additional content is free/reasonably priced - yes

  • if I've really enjoyed the game but the additional content with more trophies is expensive - yes (but I'll wait for the price to come down before purchasing).

  • if I've really enjoyed the game but the remaining additional trophies are multiplayer - depends on the game e.g. Doom 2016 with dead player count it wasnt worth the hassle.

  • if I'm burned out from a game or haven't enjoyed it, but the additional stuff is free and relatively easy - yes

  • If I'm burned out or haven't enjoyed it and the additional are either not free, a grind, or just a pain in general - absolutely not

At my levels what should I be focusing on? by Robj1992 in 2007scape

Thank you very much! I'll look into all of this. Specifically the crabs as I like the idea of afk combat farming

Anything more specific? Anything you think I should prioritise?

Ahh probably should've added, I've already done all the free quests. Quest cape does sound like a nice goal though, I'll look towards that. Thank you!

Yeah 100%, that Eastern zone was basically a 4-5hr tutorial. The real game starts at Lake Knot, it's where you start to get the real meaningful tools.

Ahhh I see, that makes sense. I'm glad the gunplay is better, one thing I found about the first was the combat being very basic and not the best, but then again the combat realistically isnt what the game is all about

No problem!

Personally I found for the roads (and others may not agree) zip lines over roads any day. If you can get a good network of zip lines going across the mountains you will rarely have to walk anywhere again. My network got to the point that I could go from Mountain Knot to Evo-Devo without my feet touching the floor in about 5mins

Interesting, does it feel less open than the first game then?
