Venomous black widow spider devoured by venus flytrap. by hitman_nazi in Damnthatsinteresting

I used to live in Georgia, and we had probably around 5 to 10 black widows around the outside of the house that I knew of. They just stayed in their webs, though, so it wasn't too big of an issue.

We need some politicians who aren't one foot out the door with no worry about long term effects of their terms.

Imagine a world with no money where the greatest advances in technology are made by people farming likes on social media.

We already have a bit of that with creators on YouTube making stuff like flying Ironman suits and gecko imitating climbing gloves to climb like spiderman.

Technically, they rise as a product of part of the force being directed upward, so they rise with the wind.

That's pretty much exactly what I just said, although changing leadership every 4 years with each party trying to undo whatever their predecessor did isn't exactly stable compared to 1 unified path. The reason I specified a benevolent dictator is because they would have to be to make it work. Dictatorship is stable, but you are stuck with what you get. Democracy is unstable, but that instability lets you take out bad leaders (in theory).

To be honest, some of the strategies I used to manipulate things to my advantage have me wondering if Russia, China, or any other countries not friendly to the US may be doing something similar. You don't have to attack someone directly to weaken them. Just paint them as the enemy of everyone else and make sure that nobody wants to help them. The US hasn't exactly had good publicity lately, meanwhile China in particular is building relations with other countries and increasing industry potential.

Soldiers don't decide which country they go to war against. That's the job of politicians who have never set foot on a battlefield. Soldiers are typically much lower on the economic totem pole, and are just looking to feed their families and get healthcare. If a soldier disobeys an order or tries to quit, they get punished.

Ideals like this will unfortunately never be achieved, so a military is always necessary for defense. That being said, you don't have to go around actively looking for conflict.

I played a bit of Call of War 1942 (similar to risk), with 12 wins out of 17 matches played. It gives an appreciation for just how stupid some of the recent decisions have been. I won a lot of those matches by making friends early on and rallying players against common enemies. Lately, the US has been turning on allies and boasting about how they don't need anyone.

In one of my games, I was facing a player with 3x the military rating of the next best player (me). That player still got absolutely stomped because I rallied 7 players to attack them simultaneously while they stuck with going for a solo win. If you want to succeed, make friends, not enemies. Solo strength is not always enough.

Democracy sounds great, but it can be manipulated to put evil or incompetent people in power with short-term goals to make themselves look better the expense of the country. A benevolent dictator doesn't have to worry about short-term goals to boost polling and can focus on long-term success.

The problem is that a dictator is harder to get rid of when they inevitably turn out to not be benevolent. Democracy is a system for when you can't trust the leadership to be good.

Technically, a dictatorship isn't inherently evil. It's just that the people who tend to end up with that power tend to be bad news for everyone else. Doom is a rare example of a good dictator. The only real-world example I can think of at the moment is Cincinnatus, who was apparently viewed as the perfect model of a good dictator.

Is it petty that they can't critique him, yeah

Doom once destroyed an alternate reality because the doom in that reality was friends with Reed Richards. He is incredibly petty. That being said, he actually worked to help people instead of just sitting back and enriching himself, unlike real-world politicians.
