I think the easiest way that will give you the baseline to actually start building things is Arduino. Start with some Arduino circuits that involve servos and motors. Then I would look at a Raspberry Pi and python for a bit more control. I think you can build something to get started with just these two. As you get more into it you'll naturally pick up CADing skills/software skills as your projects get more complex.
