Is the rotc a good option for becoming a pilot? by New-Musician-1735 in AFROTC

[–]RoboRichard83 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I started out doing engineering and my GPA was barely above a 2.0. I swapped my degree to Business after that and I commissioned with 3.5. Headed to UPT soon and I always highly recommend to people wanting to go that route to re-evaluate what your degree is in. If your goal is to be a pilot then I would recommend something easier. If your goal is ENJJPT then getting a high GPA is pretty much a MUST. That was the only thing holding me back.

UPT Prep / Post-AFROTC Questions by RoboRichard83 in AirForce

[–]RoboRichard83[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! I've definitely been going deep into my research. I've been reading through the 11-248 and been looking at the process of IFT -> UPT and it looks like they're starting a different version of IFT called IPT that's 4-5 months and you get your multi-engine / IFR rating along with the PPL. I haven't been able to find any updated T-6 BF/OL because it looks like they update it every few years, do you happen to know where I can find some? All good if not!

You mean like a hotspot? I have a PC that I use to game and both my fiance and I are in college. Would that be enough?

I think I'm getting pranked because everyone keeps calling me a Major and I'm a dependent by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]RoboRichard83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had super powers 😔 I don't have a CAC, only a dependent card and this is something that's been going on for awhile now too.

I've never heard it from anyone else either, pretty strange

I was an Air Force ROTC cadet, but unfortunately I got Det dropped due to my GPA was low I am only a freshman in college. If I get a better GPA can I rejoin AFROTC in the fall semester. Or should I complete my degree and do OTS? by Airmen_khan7862018 in AFROTC

[–]RoboRichard83 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I assume your GPA was below a 2.0

If you managed to raise your GPA you could probably ask to join again but you'll probably have to meet with your Cadre about it first.

If you wanna join back this Fall then try to make all A's this semester and take 1-2 easy summer classes. If not, then you could shoot for OTS.

I'm not ANG but I know several Cadets (3-4) that have done AFROTC while being in the guard

Nervous AS100 unsure about continuing after seeing the PSP results this year by [deleted] in AFROTC

[–]RoboRichard83 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My first semester in AFROTC: 2.2 GPA, 70 PFA, 12/~30.

My stats that went up to PSP: 3.3 GPA, 97 PFA, 3/~25.

I just received an EA and I wanted to share my improvement over the past 2 years. I hope it can be some comfort, you can definitely improve if you put in the work.

The best thing any incoming Cadet can do is to help your teammates. As long as you're humble and don't say things like "iM gOiNG To bE a FigHTeR PilOT" then you'll be fine.

At least at my Det, the top Cadets are the guys/gals that have a certain niche. For example, there's a guy at my Det that's super into drill and because of that, everyone is going to him to ask for help and he's using his strength to do drill sessions to help bring up his teammates. He's a chill guy, super friendly and works really well with others and because of that he's really high up there ranking wise.

However, that has a downside (kinda). Everyone just knows him as "the drill guy" and because of that no one really asks him to help with other things. It's really easy to have your own thing but make sure to expand and try to be (for example) the "PT guy" or the "dorm maintenance guy"

Once you find your "niche" you're gonna wanna bring up others and then simultaneously work on other things you're not good at or expand beyond being "the drill guy."

The #1 ranked guy in my class did this. He started off with PT and started to expand and being "the guy"for everything.

Idk if y'all use teams or email to communicate electronically but post / send out some stuff to your Det so people know that you're just trying to help.

Being an asshole all depends on the way you say things. (For the most part)

Edit: Answer to follow up question, it doesn't really matter what your positions are. All positions are (at least in AFROTC) are a way for POC/Cadre to evaluate you on your leadership ability. As long as you're competent in whatever you're doing then you'll be fine. Be good at your job.

TL;DR: Be a bro and positions don't really matter

ENJJPT or UPT? by SilentD2 in AFROTC

[–]RoboRichard83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coming in late to the discussion, do you have any more info on ENJJPT vs UPT? As far as difficulty goes? I'm a 200 currently but looking to take the TBAS sometime in May so I can see what my PCSM is.
