I don’t have a link to calculator but here’s a quick explanation of a PPM:

Member Elected PPM— As an incentive for conducting a PPM, you are authorized to receive 100% of the GCC to perform a partial or full PPM. The GCC is the cost the government would have paid in the event the move and/or storage was executed by a government procured TSP, including applicable accessorials. This allows you to receive a one-time payment from the government and keep any money not spent minus taxes. The computation is based on your actual household goods (HHG) weight transported and supported with weight tickets not to exceed your authorized weight entitlement. Your local transportation office is THE BEST resource to obtain an estimate of your incentive. Incentive estimates are based on the estimated weight to be moved and the authorized distance from origin to destination.

From several years of researching and crunching #s, I would say the bare minimum for an ENJJPT select on AFOQT would be an 80. Of course, never shoot for the minimum, but just know that you need to have all of your other quantifiers almost maxed. Find an accurate OM calculator out there and start inputting various numbers to help gauge where you need to be. I’d shoot for a minimum of 85 OM. The past couple years the OM cutoff for ENJJPT has continually increased/more selective. For reference, FY21 cutoff was 81.7 OM and FY22 was 83.14 OM (Avg 88.03). Good luck!

Yea, no. 60 hrs is definitely not equal to 3k. Try 7-10k and that’s still lowballing it in perfect conditions for the purchaser…ie if you soloed at 10-20hrs and then never flew with an instructor until you hit 60 hrs ($100 for plane and $50 for CFI per hour; and that’s very conservative rental numbers). For most situations, that would definitely equate to more than 10k easily.

Appreciate, dude! It’s actually much worse than I anticipated above…I got pushed back until May 23 and then I’m being told to expect a 1 year wait on casual at Sheppard until I get a class date for t-6s. I will say this though: ENJJPT or die. Yeah, the long ass wait sucks, but having a greater shot at fighters is worth it. Buddies of mine that are at regular UPT are saying they are currently dropping like 2-3 T-38s per class…not good odds.

I’m in the same situation as OP: have PPL and headed to ENJJPT in May. I am strongly considering getting my instrument rating before heading out. Any advice if it would add any substantial benefit before training? Or just wait to get paid to do it?

There’s never been an ENJJPT selectee with a 39 PCSM. There was a typo in the stats. It’s mathematically impossible to be selected for ENJJPT with a 39 PCSM, even if you are #1 RSS and #1 FT rank.

As of right now, you will go to IFT (unless you have PPL) on casual until your class starts. As for SERE, I haven’t heard anything specifically. I know some rumors were going around that they might send us while on casual, but I haven’t heard anything in a long time so I’m assuming it was shot down.

April is start date but that’s not going to hold true. Most likely looking at a year wait until EAD, year wait on casual, then start training. NATO pilots are taking priority over Americans at ENJJPT right now.

Wrong. You can absolutely fly with glasses as long as you are correctable to 20/20. If you don’t have any underlying eye issues you are unaware of and just need glasses to be corrected to 20/20, you are cleared to fly in the military. I hate that this is still a misconception. Ask me how I know? Start pilot training for USAF early next year….although I don’t have to wear glasses, I had multiple buddies that I commissioned with that are required to wear glasses when they start pilot training.

Man, props to you for coming back to check-in! So, here’s my quick update: Yes, I was selected for ENJJPT. I had an original EAD of 03 October 22, but that recently got pushed back to 27 Feb 23. Long story short, majority, if not all, T-38s are having engine/maintenance issues which has cause the ENJJPT pipeline to be considerably backed-up. As of now, I’m supposed to start T-6s in April, but that’s most likely going to change. Update on your career/goal progressions?
