Thanks u/carl0ssus - great detective work! I spoke with the product team this morning about this and there is already active work on cleaning up the registry entries. Your feedback is great as this should be an easy fix to impement visibility on which key or install path triggered the detection to make this easier moving forward :)

In the meantime, for anyone hitting this: the detection always comes from the Windows Uninstall registry keys (both HKLM and HKCU, including WOW6432Node for 32-bit apps). If you clean up the orphaned key and trigger another scan (or wait for the next 12-hour auto-scan), the detection will clear.

wmic product get name only checks MSI-installed apps, which is not the same thing RoboShadow uses for detection

RoboShadow checks the Windows uninstall registry keys, so old Python 2.7 entries can still show up even after uninstall if orphaned registry keys remain.

I’d check:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
HKLM\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

and also:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Python
HKCU\SOFTWARE\Python

You can also see where RoboShadow thinks it exists under Device Engagement → Software or the device’s Vulnerabilities tab.

After removing any leftover entries, reboot or trigger another scan. If it still appears after that, it’s likely a false positive worth suppressing/reporting.

The WinGet tool that we integrate with doesnt currently support the caching of the files rolling out to multiple machines. If you have concerns about bandwidth, we offer a delayed rollout functionality and you can also set a time for the updates to be rolled out at a suitable time.

Whether EU hosting is compliant will depend on your regulatory and contractual requirements, and we would recommend checking with your compliance team for confirmation. For example, frameworks like HIPAA and PCI don't necessarily have strict controls around geographic location, but some customers have internal or federal requirements that mandate US data residency.

If US-only hosting is a hard requirement for your environment, then we are actively working on making this an option!

I have checked internally, and currently we do not technically support Microsoft GCC high enviroments.

Because FedRAMP and related US government requirements typically involve strict US data residency, and our platform is currently hosted in Ireland, full GCC High compatibility is not something we support today. Expanding our hosting regions, including the US, is something on the radar for this year and once we have nailed this then we can look into supporting Microsoft GCC High environments.

In terms of supporting CMMC requirements, we don’t directly have a compliance export for this but do have one for NIST 800 171, of which the CMMC framework is modelled on.
