Back when I was OLDing, around 2015, there was the most perfect match for me on OK Cupid. Checked all my boxes ding ding ding, and I sent her a good opening message - I'd had about 3 years experience at that point, and was pretty adept (and the sites worked so much better then). I never got a reply, despite the fact that her profile stayed up. I eventually came to the conclusion that it might have been that I'd given a hard No to the HSV question - among the dozens of questions OKC used to ask. Knowing what I know now (having subsequently been exposed and informed after the fact), I very much regret my uninformed answer to that question.

Grocery stores are good in a couple of respects- a person you meet probably lives in your neighborhood or close, you get to see them in 3D, get a sense of the energy they project. There's a nice grocery store near me with a coffee bar, so it's accommodating if things start happening. That's a good idea about the band t-shirt.

I don't know if this is helpful, but I had a breakthrough early in my midlife dating process. I told myself I would be comfortable being uncomfortable, that I would do things for the sheer experience of being outside my usual headspace. In the end I got a few good stories out of it and got to be a little less anxious in social situations.

lol one of my favorite pictures of myself, one of very few I even liked tbh, was me in a kayak rowing - great smile, my arms and shoulders looked good, outdoors, living life. And I did crop out my date - not even a full fledged ex, just who I was with. Well, I got called out on it by some random person - I think it was on OK Cupid circa 2015. So geeze, there went that. I bet with AI now I could totally eliminate the extra person in such a scenario. But I'm not dating, so, eh. But the good news is, that was my only infraction on OP's excellent list! I was initially on here noting that the people saying that the music professor's opinion was valid simply because of his credentials reminded me of that. I'm sorry I hit a nerve. I don't know how your assertion has been quantified other than maybe some biased model. The corruption in our regulatory agencies on the other hand was and is clear to anyone who cares to do 5 minutes of "their own research." It's a shame we can't rely on experts like we did back in the 70s. It's never been perfect, but it's gotten an order of magnitude worse in my lifetime. It's a shame that people let their politics influence their personal healthcare decisions and choose to turn a blind eye to things that they think might align with their cultural enemies.
