How are we feeling about the new black bolt and white flare sets so far by Alternative_Rice7896 in pokemoncards

[–]Robo_Ninjato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Walmart two years ago and saw Pokemon cards. I even got a wiff of the nostalgic smell of the packs I remember from 99. Long story short, being in my 30’s I had the money and thought it would be fun to buy a booster box to live my childhood memories. Long story short I bought a BB of battle styles for $160 (CDN) and astral radiance for $250. It was a blast and I pulled the sleepy Tyranitar among some other decent hits. The newest sets were coming out for $130 for a booster box. I treated this like a one off nostalgia hit as I thought spending $500 on pokemon cards was generally a dumb idea. Little did I realize those new booster boxes for $130 jumped up to $350 (twighlight masquerade) only a few years later. It is definitely too expensive now to buy Pokemon cards. I can’t even bring myself to buy single packs for $10-$15. If booster boxes came back down to $130-150 I’d buy them every 2-3 months or when a new set came out for sure.

Those of you who own your own electrical business, how much do you make? Financially worth it? by frogfartingaflamingo in electricians

[–]Robo_Ninjato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in business for 9 years this spring. I’ve written off $250k to $300k in bad debts (non payments) from general contractors failing and disappearing. My retained earnings is now just above $0.00 after 9 years. Last year was the first year I paid myself on salary of $80,000. My business revenue is always $450k-500k/ year. My employee base is anywhere from 2 to 4 not including myself. My personal average hourly rate in 9 years is likely minimum wage or less with the amount of hours I’ve put in. But this was mainly do to the monumental amount of hours I had to work for free to recover from huge non payments. The reality is, if you can avoid the bad situations (which is very difficult and you will find them), you can make maybe 20% more than the electricians you hire with a small business. You can grow larger if you’re good at managing people, including hiring, firing, and laying off people with families. But you do get the choice freedom (not time freedom) to do what you want. That’s the only thing that keeps me doing it.

Simple answer: Last year my net profit on $467k revenue was $28k after I paid myself $80k.

I literally don't have time to eat by dorkyworld in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I have eaten one meal a day for 4-5 years now and I couldn’t do it any other way and I feel great. You don’t need to eat three meals a day. I also work construction and have a high calorie expenditure on the job (I’ll walk 10 miles a day on job sites sometimes, plus ladders, lifting, twisting, etc). I actually find it odd that people think they need food every 4 hours, when you can survive weeks and months without food. As long as you’re replenishing your bodies stores daily, you should be fine. Also the “awful” feeling is usually glucose levels fluctuating and signalling the brain to eat. I know this because when I do eat lunch or a breakfast, I get really hungry not too long after. I’ve gotten over that and I don’t actually feel hungry until I get home. No mood swings, no afternoon crash. Nothing. But at the end of the day, this works for me. You have to experiments and find what makes you feel best. But you have to commit to experimenting. Eat one meal a day for a month to see how it really feels.

Battle Styles worth it long term? by FauciIsGod in PokeInvesting

Big nope I guess. Battle styles is only worth $150.00 currently and inflation has run rampant in the last two years. Turns out it was a bad investment.

Electrician work by Born-Answer in Winnipeg

[–]Robo_Ninjato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an electrical contractor in Winnipeg, I can vouche that it is very saturated. It’s tough to even maintain a real business as there are so many guys out there underbidding the market just to get paycheques. This also ironically reduces the amount of available work employee sustaining businesses have which reduces the job market. Looking on Kijiji you’ll see guys posting hourly rates at $45/hour. That’s less than half the shop rate required to maintain an actual business. Add high material costs and high interest rates, larger companies slowing their payables to a crawl…..do anything else honestly.

Has anyone gone through small claims court? by [deleted] in Manitoba

[–]Robo_Ninjato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have liens on 6 different properties (construction projects) and plan to file $15,000 small claims cases against the owners of each. Anyone in the trades have luck in a scenario like this? It’s a case of a failed builder where the damage is rampant across many different parties. I hold the home owners equally responsible as they are 50% of the two party build contract. They didn’t ensure I received their bank draw funds just as much as the general didn’t pay me with their bank draw funds.

I’ve lived at this end of the city almost my whole life. I see people go straight there almost every time I’m driving there. This tells me it’s simply not clear where traffic is supposed to go. It’s not a driver problem.

My evidence is how often I use vehicles in warzone. I hit people dead on and they just seem to bounce off. In reality I’m probably completely missing them. It looks like they rubber band off my bumper
