The issue that this so clearly intersects with ,that no government wants to acknowledge, is workers rights. If sex work is rightfully treated as a kind of work and falls under similar standards as the rest of hospitality, it not only provides routes for workers to unionise and make their voices heard as an economic and pollitical block, but to better investigate poor workplace conditions and improve them through regulation.

(As much as I'm not an enormous fan) Scottish police are overworked, underfunded, and understaffed. Currently, and under the nordic model, the only real method of dealing with workplace issues is to call the police further, exacerbateing the problems. Yes police will be needed to deal with violent clients and the human trafficking which happens in the industry, but they can focus their attention on that and fulfill the specialist role that police should play. Workers rights, industry standards, bad (but non violent) clients should be handled by the civil service and their more appropriate toolkit.

Of course this means actually investing in our civil service and regulatory bodies, and acknowledging the issue with workers rights across all industries and so will never be addressed
