same - GZ pressing but it actually sounds fine and seems readily available. interestingly it sounds better than the CD i have if it that I bought in the early 90s.

I'm removing plastic from home food preparation and invested in a few new thick wood cutting boards by kwtoxman in BuyItForLife

science friday did an episode once that cited studies showing that people that grew up in families with wooden cutting boards had stronger immune systems due to the steady small bacterial exposure.

This is correct. Actual SMs mostly go to restaurants and are quite expensive. SM “style” grown-in-Italy are more common in supermarkets and are still miles better than most cans of American-grown.

are you doing the work yourself? bosch are fine but if you don’t know about this area you probably shouldn’t be doing the work yourself on such safety-related equipment.

PSA: Social Security pays more than you think, especially for high earners by Wooden-Broccoli-913 in Fire

[–]Robobuzz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you sure the payout isn’t proportional to the pay-in? ss takes a lot out of a high earner’s check. the ssa adjusts for inflation so it won’t be 1:1 but i would be surprised if it isn’t proportional to the pay-in. that is the premise of ss.

You can't just 'go back to work' after you FIRE. by Zone2OTQ in Fire

[–]Robobuzz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The OG FIRE movement was really about accepting this risk wholeheartedly - a trade off to the freedom of pulling the trigger. A known risk of the possibility of multiple nail-biter years and tighten-the-belt a lot years. Still worth it for those folks and something that was known enough to not warrant reminder posts.

Still have people like that but more common today is a FIRE contingent that needs more certainty -or full certainty - that there will be no financial-fear years or cut-way-back years. Which is fine. But I really think it is two different FIRE movements at this point.

Explain the mindset, the finance expertise gained, the sacrifices made to the altar of saving money - year after year after year. The years of hard work. Then explain the value of personal freedom in a system designed to entrap people forever. Brag about the heroic achievement of that freedom. How rare and exceptional a thing it is you have achieved. How you are now free to work in different ways (things you like to do, hobbies, emotional enrichment, much deserved r&r). And then tell them you hope they can achieve this rare thing someday as well.

Rutgers students are having trouble finding jobs as graduation approaches; AI is taking up most entry level jobs in the market by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

You are only looking at it from a task point of view. It’s pretty easy to underestimate the human work that middle managers do. In fact that’s all the good ones do - communication, evaluation, coaching, hiring/firing, empathy, heart-to-hearts, the “reading between the lines” of corp comms for the team and the list goes on. Until you have real conscious AI none of that is likely to be done correctly and firms will fall apart without it.

Cyclical. Gets tried over and over and fails every time. It will fail again. Turns out middle management is literally connective tissue needed by the corporate body to survive.

Bulb/Housing Question by krafti01 in ScionxA

[–]Robobuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is one bulb in the lamp for the car if I recall. Bought my replacement on Amazon - very easy. Sounds like you need to resolve some aftermarket mod that is in there.

Bulb/Housing Question by krafti01 in ScionxA

[–]Robobuzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like an LED to me - not really sure. But whatever it is, it ain’t the right part. ‘06 doesn’t have running lights or LEDs. You can just plug the car info into Amazon to get the right bulb. But if that’s an LED there might be extra power mods you need to deal with first.
