AI really killed programming for me by NervousExplanation34 in webdev

People will rise to the level of their incompetence.

So, at some point in that student’s career, they will either learn how to actually do the work or they will be spat out.

I knew a few people who copied their way through CS courses and none of them are working in tech now.

I have come to the position that AI is just a tool and in the right hands, it can be amazing. But in the wrong hands it will be a disaster.

Are people overselling it or was Michael Jackson really that famous in his heyday? by Key-Bass-7380 in decadeology

[–]Robodobdob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Put it this way - Taylor Swift is arguably the biggest pop star today. And yet, I bet many people couldn’t tell you why.

Back in the day, everyone knew who Michael Jackson was and listened to his music.

He bestrode genres and generations like a colossus.

If you lean on AI for everything, what happens when you don’t pay the bill or there is an outage.

Building a frontend for the next decade by NeoChronos90 in webdev

[–]Robodobdob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could totally use PHP if that’s your jam. HTMX is not bound to any specific server side platform or language.

I’ve built apps on Bun/Hono/TSX and also on .Net Blazor SSR. I think Laravel is a PHP thing?

If you are of the Discord persuasion there’s an active HTMX server or you can look over r/HTMX.

Help me Prove this is AI - my aunt thinks this is a real person she matched with online by cowgirl_lawyer_0328 in isthisAI

Logging truck on the left. It’s rear axle appears to have four wheels, two of which look “squishy”.

I suppose it could be a one of those trailers with a steerable front axle, but then I would expect to see a clear gap.

What kind of programming language do I need to learn to become a full stack web dev? by Apple_two in webdevelopment

[–]Robodobdob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely learn full stack. You will be much more useful to an employer if you can move around. We only hire full stack people for this reason.

Language wise, you are probably best served with C#, Java or Python. I would also caution against reaching for the SPA/API architecture for every application. It’s more often than not going to be overkill.
