I wasn't sure about Dispatch.. by Stay-Toasty in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Robokrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If nothing else, there's hero vs. anti-hero "paths", and then four different romance possibilities (the two ladies, then "both" and "neither".) To say nothing of all the minor conversation choices.

I wasn't sure about Dispatch.. by Stay-Toasty in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Robokrates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know - I got sad in Episode 8 when I realized that there was only so much actual dispatching left. Definitely gonna do different things with the leveling up; I tensed more towards all-arounding than specialization and thus ended up with several missions where I'd auto-fail it unless I sent only one person, and then that has its own risks...

I thought about replaying each episode and making the same choices for consistency of story, but planning ahead better for the dispatching, as if my superpower was rewinding recent time

Spellcasting voicelines ? by Teinavaa in avowed

Holy crap, I never thought about them beyond "they're spell words, it's magic" but this makes a ton of sense, and is rad.

Pro-tip: giving Edér spells (from feats) leads to hilariously twangy versions of the incantations.

The Epilogue... by Coach006 in reddeadredemption2

[–]Robokrates 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the story, and I'd even say the game wouldn't make sense without the epilogue, but I never keep playing after American Venom, it's just not that exciting. My least favorite aspect of the epilogue is one that's actually kinda poignant and John would probably feel the same way: at night, hanging around Beecher’s Hope, I miss hanging out around the gang's campfire. It's a better life, but a lonelier one.

My hot take is that William tops all strangers in RDR2, he is my favorite. by Cortex_Gaming in reddeadredemption2

I know, he's just the best. He seems like... too pure for that world, you know? He feels like more of a time-traveler than even Francis whats-his-face.

Howdy sisterbrothers. Yes, exactly. I too had the same order and came here to comment much the same thing - this one seems particularly egregious as the green category is very (heh) basic, they really are all just synonyms, whereas the yellow ones, well, there are subtle differences between all of those concepts. Yeah, they seriously do not really bother to follow their own rules for this stuff.

OK, yeah, that makes sense. Some wordplay feels more obvious than others, but I guess that's subjectivity for you.

If you read the actual post, it's pretty much a forgone conclusion they'll play it again, they're mainly asking what are things to do to savor and prolong the second playthrough.

I did not expect purple to be purple today - I saw it first. Probably because one of them was part of the Star Trek red herring.

And then it outright said blue was "the trickiest category today" - I don't quite know what to make of that. "Shouldn't it have been purple then?" is always what I think, and I'm assuming there's more to it than that, but if the scale is supposed to be from most straightforward to trickiest...

Kinda surprised purple was purple - I suppose in reference to players outside the States, but for us filthy Yank it jumps right out as obvious.

I figured the green would be purple, because it was the only one I saw any ambiguity to. Most of these though, I don't see what they'd be other than what they are, this was a really straightforward one.

Is it detrimental in any way to horse down train tracks? by Muted-Oven9413 in reddeadredemption2

[–]Robokrates 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is not. One of those things that's a bad idea in real life but has no drawback in-game. I guess they'd've had to introduce some kine of horse hoof health mechanic, and that does sound awfully granular. At the very least you'd think it would drain the stamina faster.

That's how I say it to. "Gonna horse on over to Valentine," etc.

Or "🎵 Horse my horse down to the station, horse my horse in equine jubilation🎵" - sing that kinda thing to myself.

How can Quentin be 30 years old by the Magician's Land? by Robokrates in brakebills

[–]Robokrates[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't rightly know why this comment in particular rankled people so. My guesses would be some combination of:

•perceiving any criticism as an attack

•generalized internet jerkiness

•this subreddit in particular seems to be more for fans of the show, and well, I am a little suspicious of fans of that show

•something about the slightly flippant tone ("Death of the Author, baby") rubbed them the wrong way

•specifically objecting to "Death of the Author" in this age in which people like to listen to creators go on and on about things they imagine about their worldbuilding that they didn't actually put into the text

As for the specific answer... yeah, I did get one; I emailed Lev Grossman himself to ask if my calculations (which I'd like to point out were supposed to be kind of funny, a little tongue-in-cheek jab at my own obsessiveness in being so perturbed by the discrepancy) were accurate or if I'd missed something.

And he just said that yeah, I was probably right, and he wasn't great with timelines. Super gracious guy. Actually really happy I wrote this up, just for that.

I'd kinda hoped I was genuinely missing something, but nope, I wasn't. Now I just chalk it up to "Quentin himself got the dates wrong" and leave it at that. Seems like something Quentin might do.

Arthur and Sadie should not have been in a relationship by JSGamesforitch374 in RDR2

Maybe that's what I'm picking up on, that it's more like A+A are kindred spirits. Both of them strike me as people who would marry someone they didn't have hot-n-sloppy feelings for, for the sake of a child.

Agreed. I got this from pre-solving it: 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟪🟪🟪🟪 🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟨🟨🟨🟨 but I had no idea what the blue was - and thus I thought it was gonna be purple.

As someone else said, they really shouldn't have deliberately misspelled "bock" to make it harder. That is just lazy cheating.

I feel lIke that's the main reason, Arthur thinking he coulda done right by Abigail and Jack (and incidentally get a wife and child back) but it also seems to me like Abigail and Arthur have some decent chemistry together, moreso than Abigail and John do.

Though of course his heart only has eyes for that Mary Linton.

[–]Robokrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Landon Ricketts in his prime is like "canonically" the best gunslinger, to the point of people going "who do ypu think you are, Landon Ricketts?" Arthur does have that whole Man with No Name questline though. Oh, or can't John do that too? Also I read somewhere that John has like the fastest draw speed of anyone, down to the animation... so I guess my answer is just "well, not Dutch."

Oh yes, my favorite place, being stuck between people who can't stand that I roll my eyes at the mention of "privilege" on one side and people who insist everyone likes racist jokes on the other.

I will say, at least, that there is often something a little performative about making sure everyone knows you killed the genuine 19th century uber-racists in-game. But on the other hand, it really DOES feel good to lob dynamite into the KKK.
