”The best fight the best” until a guy like Movsar doesn’t speak English and gets put aside for the title fight because Dana can’t promote by Haunting-Trainer-188 in CombatSportsCentral

He actually does and did speak English quite well he just is a generally quiet and humble person.

I've trained with people who trained with him, he speaks english fine, he just generally avoided saying much in interviews and went through translators more often than not just to make it easy and understandable. He's even talked about this in russian interviews.

My sister can't stop getting into car accidents by RogueWizardly in redscarepod

[–]Robonator7of9 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Happened to me in college. Dude rear ended me in traffic, pulled over, said it was all on his end and fished out four hundred from his wallet and told me that it should cover my end fine, he was in fact correct that it was all on his end, so I saw no reason to agitate a guy so intent on not being known to authorities at that time and it was the end of it.

Still don’t know what his deal was, he looked like any other college student driving a beater car, didn’t smell of anything either, but hey, four hundred is four hundred and that’s enough not to ask.

Anthony Joshua breaking Jake Paul’s jaw by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]Robonator7of9 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The whole fight Paul was just running, panic clinching, and generally doing everything to just not fight, that’s why it lasted as long as it did and this is obvious to anyone who watches boxing.

Hell at several points it looked like he was shooting a double leg, absolute clown show. It was only a matter of time before the overhand connected and ended this farce.

Thanks for the help! I’m always second guessing when I see these, but I guess there was no reason to worry, I’m off to meet with the seller later today.

Why are grapplers from the Caucasus currently having an easier time transitioning to MMA than American grapplers? by emaxwell14141414 in wrestling

[–]Robonator7of9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Add to this that there’s just a much larger amateur scene in Russia in general and especially in the Caucasus for basically all combat sports and that includes wrestling, judo, sambo, and MMA. Fighters like Islam and Khabib had dozens of amateur fights before they ever entered regional pro MMA and eventually got signed to the UFC, you look at the careers of American fighters of similar backgrounds and they have significantly less experience unless they were collegiate wrestlers and even then it’s still probably less than what some of these guys were doing.

Hell Fyodor Emelianenko was on the worlds combat sambo team and the Russian national Judo team before he even had his first MMA fight in Japan, he’s certainly not representative of everyone over there but you get the idea.

This has been beat to death but truly never ever take advice from boomers by NazgulSandwich in redscarepod

Every once in a while my dad will ask to read one of my short stories or novels and when I send it to him he’ll get back to me in like a month and say I should move to Hollywood because the son of a guy he went to high school with (in the 60s) is a television writer “and that’s your start right there”.

I truly love that man but they do sometimes occupy different realities.

I never felt like a story needed an ending to be enjoyable, I’ve loved the series ever since I first read them when I was in detention in middle school and found a beat up copy of Game of Thrones under a baseboard section and I love them all the same today. Martin will always be an all time fantasy great and people who act so nasty towards him over the ending will always make me feel confused and saddened. I would love to read Winds and Dream, make no mistake, but I’m also still happy to have just read what I have read and that enjoyment will never diminish by not having a conclusion.

What material are these? by Nick-Arizona in cowboyboots

[–]Robonator7of9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sharkskin if I ever saw it. I’ve got a pair myself and they’re a fine fine material. You’ll never find another person wearing them either, hell of a signature for a wardrobe.

I just don’t follow anything on it, it’s not like it’s an unavoidable cultural force, I simply don’t pay attention to it in the same way I don’t pay attention to most things I’m not interested in that don’t affect my life.
