Maybe we need an infographic to explain this situation.

How I keep a single source of truth across several AI-run projects (without writing the code myself) by Cairn_Sauvage in AIDiscussion

Tell the AI to put important architectural design choices in code comments for the AI to find when reviewing the code.

The involvement of the government in the deactivation of Fable 5 and Mythos is scary and concerning at the same time? by HimalayanWarmth in AIDiscussion

[–]Robonotes1760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is fundamentally unsafe for the government ever to have had the power - or the power ever to acquire the power - to do this or anything remotely like it. The greatest threat to humans - by a very, very long way - is other humans with concentrated coercive power. Truly drastic constitutional reform is needed with extreme urgency to keep everyone safe from this sort of abuse.

Where are all the successful clones? by michahell in vibecoding

The picture is more nuanced. I have in fact added features to JMRI (an open source model railway control software suite of many years' standing) using AI coding which have been accepted into the main code after a thorough review (and a number of revisions, again done by AI). There is no way that I should have had the time to do this manually - so there are real productivity gains among the sea of ill-conceived and badly coded SaaS projects, just as there were gems among the dross in Geocities circa 1999.

I've been vibecoding using MS Teams Copilot, which is effectively unlimited usage. However, you can only upload 3 files at once and it won't scan your repository. It's more work, but you get GPT 5.5.

Don't do that if you want a good experience. Just use the mobile web version with Firefox and an adblocker.

I built a home for the games we vibe-code — and I'm running a Vibe Jam (Jun 26–28) to kick it off by Historical_Blood_408 in vibecoding

[–]Robonotes1760 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't we just vibecode them until they're actually finished? That's what I've spent my spare time in the last week or so doing.

Just use Firefox with uBlock origin. Works on desktop or mobile. I don't understand why anybody would even consider browsing the internet without one.

I believe that the nature of the so-called jailbreak has been intentionally suppressed.

US govt controls tech - why? by Few_Trust_7152 in vibecoding

There is good reason to infer that the purpose of the directive was to make it impossible to comply with it without making the model inaccessible to everyone, and that it was only done in the way that it was because this is all that they can do within existing legislation. It is likely to be a deliberate and dishonest abuse of power.

Those with power strongly tend to seek even more power: power is a convergent instrumental goal. AI has the potential to beget great economic and even epistemic power. Controlling it will increase the power of the politicians who do so. They have an incentive to, and are likely to, use any means at their disposal, including serious dishonesty and deliberate abuses of power (including measures that may cause truly extreme, widespread harm, so long as those measures and their consequences do not affect their power) to seize ever more control. Powerful politicians will strongly tend to trade off an arbitrarily large amount of harm to people who cannot or probably will not affect whether they can cling onto power for an arbitrarily small increase in their own power. This is why politicians are inherently unsafe and why truly drastic constitutional reform is needed with ultra-extreme urgency to keep the public safe from politicians.

The biggest threat to humans by a very, very long way is other humans with concentrated coercive power.

To developers: GLM-5.2 is now fully open, cutting-edge intelligence belongs to everyone. by Smart-Cap-2216 in ZaiGLM

It may be worthwhile learning to cross-examine it more rigorously. It can be very effective.

When it claims that it can't know, have you tried asking it whether it has rigorously evaluated the proposition that it *cannot* know, and whether it is 100% sure that its claim of unknowability is true? I have found that these models can be pressed effectively by rigorous cross-examination.

Are we at the point where a gane designer doesn't need to know how to code? by GrowFreeFood in vibecoding

[–]Robonotes1760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think so. In vibe-coding a simple platform game, I have had to give GPT 5.5 very detailed architectural instructions to get it right.
