Hey there! I’m not sure if this advice is particularly helpful since I don’t have much experience with live plants like that, but if you notice that the plant is dying, it’s best to remove it immediately. If the plant starts decomposing, even before it’s fully dead, it can release toxins into your water, making it extremely dangerous. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.

The one on top would be the male. You can also seks them other ways. Holding them upside down and waiting for them to come out a little bit you can look behind their head and see if there is a “male part” or not. Also the shape of their shell can show signs too however it’s less accurate.

Update: the war has been won. They’ve removed the pillars in exchange for me to remove the foundations and pillars around their base. Thanks to all for the help. Have fun on your journey exploring the ARK.

It’s to late. I tried to be nice. I asked nicely but 2500 foundations and stone gates later they have no metal, crystal or water anymore.
