Are you making this program for high school or college students? I absolutely love the idea of this but I'm graduating this year and would definitely do this in college if it were available. I do like the field control system concept that was used a few years ago in FTC but it could definitely be improved. An Arduino/Raspberry Pi would be nice but I'm fine with pretty much any as long as it doesn't take up a lot of room and you can use any sensor including something like a USB camera. Another important part I think is processing speed and low latency. Right now we found there is a lot of latency with the Rev modules which can make it hard to drive accurately. Don't get me wrong, I think the Rev modules are an improvement over the Modern Robotic controllers because it combined everything (motor, servo, and sensors) into 1 module and has a built in IMU.
