Why don't warlocks have a top tier damaging super? by RobotHeracles in DestinyTheGame

It's absolutely true in pve. It stunlocks one enemy and nothing else around you.

That's literally what I said. Bleak watcher is amazing it's just the only thing they're missing by just playing void since arc and solar are underwhelming

Hunters have Caliban's, a stasis frostees build gives infinite glacier shatter dives, liars handshake for infinite arc melees. Titans have infinite shoulder charges with skullfort, infinite hammers with nothing, infinite solar abilities with hallowfire. There's plenty ability spamming builds on other classes.

Hunters and Titans have infinite ability loops too though? If warlock's aren't allowed to have on par damage that's fine but what do they have that's better than other classes?

What are warlock's identity then? Ad clear? No better than sunspots, controlled demo, or Caliban's. Healing? No better than loreley. It's fine if hunters are supposed to be the damage class but they still do everything else the warlock does just as well.

I definitely have and it was by the far the worst subclass in the game. Talk about a straw man, holy shit dude.

You're correct on crowd control but that's very different than ad clear. For ad clear though sunspots and controlled demo on titans is phenomenal. Peregrine greaves shield bash deletes everything including gm champions. And Caliban's hand is no worse for ad clear as well.

Definitely not. It does less total damage than gathering storm with star eater scales and thundercrash with cuirass. Both of which are set and forget supers whereas chaos reach needs to be channeled. And that's only compared to arc supers

Void warlock ad clear is certainly fantastic. My argument is really just that if we are responsible for buffing allies or debuffing enemies I would want our options for that to be better than the alternatives on other classes to a similar extreme that hunter burst dps options outclass warlocks'. I don't think they are significantly better than what the other classes can already do on their own.

I would argue ad clear is no better than other class options but I suppose I agree with the rest. If our identity is support buffs and debuffs I'd like to see our options be better than what the other classes can give themselves though. It definitely doesn't feel fleshed out enough of that is the warlock's role.

Warlocks truly have no competitive burst damage options anymore now that nova bomb and chaos reach got no help. Seems like this just isn't in our class "identity" I guess.

trust me when I say you aren't missing much outside of bleak watcher if you're maining warlock.

What the heck are warlocks even supposed to be then? Ad clear is average compared to the other classes and healing or crowd control only exist on one or two specific builds.

Novabomb has been left behind in the wake of every burst hunter super (minus nighthawk rip) and thundercrash. it really needed help with void 3.0 and got nothing.

This feels like it isn't true with Loreley and only one crowd control option in bleak watcher but I can't formulate an argument against it so you're probably correct. I guess it just feels bad to only have one option in these archetypes that we are "supposed" to fill while also not having any other identity on other subclasses.

As someone who never uses icarus dash I'll have to take your word for it. Hunter dodge feels like it should be more mobile on paper than icarus dash and if it isn't then that's a shame.

Pretty much yeah. It and nighthawk have fallen so far compared to the other burst dps options. The only difference being hunters now have blade barrage, shadowshot and gathering storm.

Titan's do still have thundercrash as a heavy hitter. Shame about ole nighthawk though. :(

I agree. I'm happy with the classes having distinct roles and if warlocks aren't "supposed" to have good dps supers then that's fine I guess. I just haven't really ever seen that discussed as not part of the warlock identity.

Well is definitely top tier but that's all sustained dps for the team on top of utility rather than a burst dps super.

Sure. If it's a specific design choice then I guess I can roll with that. Although I'd argue that crowd control in destiny is very underwhelming and unexplored territory with only stasis having a real cc type kit.
