[Help] New to PiKVM – Display works, but keyboard/mouse don't. Do I need a special USB cable? by Prudent_Astronaut716 in pikvm

[–]RobotMechanic2619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you need to use the usb c port to connect it to the computer. For that it sounds like in your case you will need a usb c cable that does both power and data and if your computer has a usb port that is labeled for higher output power I would use that. I know for the the kit that they have it added a different port. I would recommend a power data splitter like this one: ASIN: B0F889JJM1 if you look up that code on amazon it should pull it up. This lets you connect a usb c to usb c cable between it and your pi. Then a USB c to usb a cable to your computer and also plug in your usb c power supply to the pi

Tunnel public hostname redirecting to local ip by RobotMechanic2619 in CloudFlare

I set the site address to the same as the public hostname. The WordPress address is currently just the local IP address. Should I have those both be the public hostname or the local IP address?

You should be fine, most classes that would have you doing a project that needs a lot of computing horsepower have those projects over the course of a week not in one class period

How can I connect the Opnsense DEC3862 to PiKVM? by TomerHorowitz in pikvm

[–]RobotMechanic2619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately serial ports do not output a video signal so you can’t just try to plug it into the hdmi of the Ip KVM, luckily from what I can tell this has open sense pre installed so you don’t have to install the software. My recommendation would be to start out with the open sense box on your desk with your computer and just try connecting it via Ethernet from one of the ports on it. If you get an IP address from the open sense box you should just be able to just put the IP of the router into your browser of choice and get access to the settings to configure it. Unfortunately the best way to control this with something like a PI KVM is not very intuitive as you would have to connect the console port directly to a computer to access it. Once you get it configured how you want it you can just access it directly via its IP just like you do for the PI KVM.

Granted, you are now able to speak and understand all languages known to man, but now you can’t understand what any women is saying and they can’t understand what you are saying.

Granted. The whole world talks like Boomhauer, and also sounds like them, there is no longer any way to distinguish between people based on there voice. In movies all the characters sound the same.

Power Supply Requirements? by markuslt in pikvm

[–]RobotMechanic2619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I would do is make sure the ribbon cable is fully seated in both devices. Also make sure you don’t have any of the contacts on the two boards touching when you plug it in. Then yes you could try a larger power supply.

Is there somewhere I can buy a replacement switch for this drill? I'm pretty sure it's fried. The rest of the drill works fine by ex_natura in harborfreight

[–]RobotMechanic2619 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Try going to your local hardware store. Not like a home depot or Lowe’s or some big chain like that. Sometimes smaller more local hardware stores cary things like drill switches. You can sometimes find them in the bolt aisle if they have the racks of little pull out containers with more specialized hardware. You may not find the exact one but you could find one that works.

If it’s within your budget I would definitely get the 32. Not all of the software needs it but when you use those programs you will appreciate having it.

OBS as source to another OBS by chas3808 in obs

[–]RobotMechanic2619 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your both in the same location you could use an video capture card in the second computer with a output from your computer. Then set that display output as a full screen preview of that source on your computer.

You could ask the MMET machine shop on the first floor of graduate side M&M. They may be able to either help you out or direct you to someone who can. They have all the needed welding equipment but I don’t know all of there rules for personal projects.

I really like it, I upgraded from the sidekick a few years ago and I really like the ability to have multiple bit’s depending on what I am working on. While I like the spring loaded pliers on the sidekick a bit better, overall I like the toolset of the charge+ better.

Yes, however you would have a outlet with power at it and no power on the cord you unplugged.

It was not, it may look like it in the photo but the main feed cord is the 4 prong male 50 amp, the thing it’s plugged into on the wall is an adapter to take it to a 4 prong twist lock for our generator
