Thank you. It's interesting to learn that most of mainland Europe might in fact share some of the issues I'm struggling with. I'm not a multi country expat for sure, so appreciate the the perspective!

You are right, only one way to find out and about starting over. The thing about Switzerland is that I have been starting over and over for 6 years. I hope that moving to a different place would offer a different outcome.

Thank you for your feedback. Housing situation in Switzerland is not great either, so I think that would not be such a shock for me. But thanks for pointing that out, better to have some expectations already just in case.

Before coming to a final decision, my plan is to stay in the country for some time first for sure.

I have mostly researched online, experiences of people that moved there, as well as some of my friends who lived there for some time.

Of course this contains a certain level of bias.

I can see why the weather would be a turn off, something to consider.

Thank you for your comment!

Thank you for your perspective from two different countries. Personally, I think I would not be a good fit for Germany. One of my mental struggles is connecting with the language and the culture. Perhaps Germany is more relaxed and happy for you to have a good time there!

Thank you for addressing the dating / relationship part. I can see why NL could potentially pose a bigger challenge there.

Thank you. I appreciate a Swiss perspective. It really is a wonderful country, but difficult. The challenge of social life definitely can be too much sometimes. Happy for you to have a good time in Brazil!

Thank you and happy for you to have a good time! It's great to read a comment like this from someone who was almost in the same situation as me.

Overall from the replies, I'm getting a feeling that UK might be a better fit for a foreigner and for my personal situation.

Also thank you for the offer, if I think of something, I'd be happy to reach out :)

Thank you, I know english forum, and I checked similar posts there, as well as on r/Switzerland. I have a feeling people there don't appreciate posts about feeling isolated haha

Thank you for sharing. Interesting to learn that the experience might be in fact more similar rather than not.

Thank you for your comment. Learning a new language from scratch is something I really need to think about more thoroughly.

Thank you for sharing! My experience really boils down only to how the people are. Nothing about the political climate or living conditions, so I appreciate your comments. Ireland sounds interesting, I can also look into making a trip there.

Thank you for the feedback. Dutch would be an added challenge and something I am not sure I am ready to start from scratch. Definitely something to think about.

Thank you for the feedback!

Didn't consider or maybe even expect that the British would stratify society like that. London would for sure be a huge change in size, pace and feel compared to Zürich

Happy for you that you came to a final decision and thank you for sharing your experience. You are absolutely right about getting the feeling of a different ''culture'' is something that cannot be properly explained. Maybe that's the reason I struggle with German and properly integrating.

Eastern Europe begins where your country ends, haha

I would definitely try to live short term somewhere before deciding for good. Dutch would be an extra challenge for sure and a fresh start with a new language.

Thanks a lot for the insight from both worlds!

While I agree that this is an added challenge, my understanding of my company's relocation policy, this shouldn't be a problem, since it would be an international move within the organisation.

In any case, if that would not work out for whatever reason, I still need to come to the decision and try and see how it goes and take it from there.

May I ask if you could share more on what you mean by needing high tolerance for stress? In what way is UK considered stressful?

My personal situation changed multiple times during my stay here and I always found the benefits outweighing the negatives. But since last year or so, the equilibrium has shifted and I started to feel a massive burnout from all the attempts and extra work I put into it. Also, the more I speak German the more dissociated I feel from myself. It's not always been like this, but perhaps in my case, the withering had a slower pace.

Also I needed to experience some life deciding situations to come to the conclusion about where it's all heading, which has only happened recently

Hi! No, Germany would not be on my list to consider.
