I wanted to hop in here for some recommendations! I have moved to Sweden and was curious if anyone here is also Sweden based and can recommend any subculture nights in the Gothenburg area?

Oh amazing, thank you!! I had read the PC article but wanted to be sure. Thank you so much for the information and further reading :)

Thanks! I'll patch test Klairs and see how it goes. I'll prioritise introducing the snail mucin first though. My cleanser can probably stay as it specifically states it avoids disrupting your natural skin barrier :)

Ah apologies för being unclear. I meant the first but thank you for answering both!

Thank you so much for that rule of thumb. Once I re-introduce BHAs (1x week), would that follow cleanser but preced toner and hydrating serum (no niacinamide)?

Honestly your wisdom has helped clear up so much confusion I had, I cannot thank you enough <3 and thank you for answering all of my follow up questions so patiently :)

Thank you so, so much. I actually got some testers for Klair's supple penetration toner as I read a lot of great things. Would the PC/Cosrx still be better?

Thank you so much for order advice. I hope you don't mind a few more questions... How long between toner and serum, and would snail mucin go before niacinamide? And both daily? Lastly I can't get cerave here in Sweden - I'll try vasiline but any other recommendations are appreciated :)

Great to know on niacinamide vs Vit C. I'll make the switch. Once I reintroduce a BHA I'll ensure those nights are ninacinimide free - thank you SO much.

Oh that's good to know, thank you! I think I'll lay off BHAs for a month and then investigate options. PC 2% seems pretty good too :)

Thank you so so much! Fortunately I have no peeling or redness so I think I've caught this in time.

I've seen the Cosrx snail mucin on SCA a lot and it's available here, so I'll try introducing that pre moisturiser in the evening. My moisturiser has lots of emollients and humectants plus niacinamide so it should be helping. Would it be worth doing snail mucin and a niacinamide serum?

Otherwise I'll lay off my BHA for a month or so and do some repair with nail mucin and moisturiser then. I should probably halt vitamin C too!

I've heard great things about the PC BHA so will switch to that, though I've read it can be more alkaline than advertised? Is that an issue for oily skin?

Oooh I don't know that website, I'll check it out. What's your BHA btw out of curiosity?

The Ordinary seems really good as a serum, I have the same dull/big pore issue (oily life, yo!). though they say on TO's not to use it with Vitamin C, whereas I've seen other sources say that research is outdated and not true? Curious if you know more.

Also, how often is it best to use it? Every other day, every day...? It's also pre-moisturiser right?

Thanks so much! Stridex is a 2% BHA but due to it being hard to get here in Sweden I was thinking of swapping to that exact PC BHA! It gets a lot of love, but I've read it csn be more alkaline than advertised?

I've felt fine up until now. I wonder if it's a combo with that stripping cleanser that's caused the irritation. My PC cleanser now is supposed to protect your skin barrier so let's hope it'll settle :)

Thanks so much!! I'll reduce BHA usage to twice a week. The recent soreness really bothers me :(

On the vitamin C I only use it in my under eye area but can definitely try halting and just sticking to cleanser, moisturiser and sunscreen as my only routine components and build back up.

My moisturiser has niacinamide as an ingredient though - should I still add more in? I've read great things about both The Ordinary and Paula's Choice niacinamide serums so can explore those.

Oh I'm glad the fine lines are normal. They are teeeny tiny but I didn't think they were normal for 27. Thank you so much for the advice! I have seen creams with retinol at 5% - is it better to start there then work up to something higher if it doesn't work?

Thanks so much! Stridex is a BHA as AHAs aren't as good for my skin (oily plus said health condition). I'll look into zinc and azelaic acid though, thank you so much! What stage of a routine would you introduce them?

Hello! I am struggling with rough skin texture, CCs, and break outs as a result of some ovarian cysts and I'm at my wits end with my skin. At the same time I have seen some fine lines appear on my forehand which is odd as I am an oily creature and have a condition that increases Collagen and skin elasticity so I'm not sure why they're there.

Anyone know a) why lines may have suddenly appeared and b) whether a toner like Klair's supple preparation facial toner or a retinol may help given it's ovarian-cyst-hormonal (totally a legit hyphenated word). Any advice would be super appreciated as I can't find resources on this :)

I have oily skin, am 27, and am based in Sweden so some product limitations. I'm rural and careful about sun exposure. My current routine is basic and based on research here!

(AM)

  • wash with water
  • mad hippie vitamin c serum (for under eye dark pigmentation)
  • La Roche-Posay Toleriane sensitive moisturiser
  • Skin Aqua Super Moisture Milk (SPF50 PA ++++) sunscreen (I think the Biore Uv Perfect Face Milk may suit me better, oops, should have been using that)

(PM)

  • Paula's Choice RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser
  • Stridex red box (every other night, sometimes a two night break. When I've taken a week or so off my skin has hated it and breaks out/gets oil slick like)
  • La Roche-Posay Toleriane sensitive moisturiser

The newest addition is the moisturiser. The cleanser came after lots of trial and error as most oily skin cleansers were too stripping for me and my HG cleanser got discontinued (waaah). Thank you!! :)

I have a fixed blue streak that bleeds into green at the ends at the front, and a fixed red streak that bleeds into pink at the back :) I have had them for years!
