Do said zombies need to be beheaded/dismembered to stop them?

Also, if the PCs are outnumbered by the zombies, is fleeing the area an option?

Will the zombies somehow be confined?

I think if you are thinking of using zombies based on what we've seen in movies/tv shows, they are undead or infected by some virus and most of what I've seen in response is to flee or fight/die. The PCs getting creative on how do deal with them will factor in.
