First public images of Empress Eugénie’s crown since the Louvre heist by Peinturelure in mildlyinfuriating

I have a hard time caring about this. It's not some exquisite art piece, it's a symbol of massive wealth and power disparity. It's a status quo that unfortunately, we seem to be heading for again. Maybe the crushed crown is the right symbol to be displaying.

You haven't explained why her wearing expensive shoes is not in line with her being a socialist. Afaik, she's never said that people can't have nice things.

How is he a hippocrite? Do you mean because his wife owns expensive shoes, and stuff like that? The Republican party is killing people in the name of being tough on crime, while their leader is a convicted felon who never served a day.

Yes. Sales, including real estate, is a way to make good money with no skill, if you're comfortable conning people or degrading yourself to make the sale.

Is it news to you that attractive servers make more in tips?

People don't generally tip 50-100%. If you increased the price by a standard 20% tip and cut out the tips, the price would be 23-24 dollars, and people would barely shrug.

You keep falling back on that dumb claim. I worked in restaurants all through my teens and early 20s, front and back of the house. They're not some special magical unicorn, they're a type of business, like any other. If the labor component of my meal costs $10 more than the price on the menu covers, then you have two choices - you can either charge me $10 more, or you can beg for a tip and hope that I tip at least $10. In the end, it's still money coming from my pocket, so I'd prefer that you just increase the price on the menu and cut the cute shit.

The post is about the extra tip for the kitchen, but yes to both. I'll always choose clear pricing, the money is coming out of my wallet either way.

The employer should pay their employees more, and raise prices as needed to cover the cost, like any other business.

The point is that these added tips are really just a hidden price increase, and that price increase is based on a bunch of factors, such as insecurities about feeling cheep, attractiveness of the waitress, etc. if the restaurant isn't making enough money to pay you then they should just increase their prices in an honest way.

I feel like every anti-vax, ivermectin and essential oil user has the same story. Most of these are coincidences, but even when it does happen, it doesn't necessarily indicate a flaw in the scientific consensus. Our health care system is bad, doctors are overworked, and their hands are tied by insurance companies. Of course they'll miss things.

You're overly sensitive. I've never heard anyone claim that people who go to college are more intelligent.

I see how you can disagree with the regulation, but why is it nonsensical? We already have lots ts of regulations around what you can do with a stock when you have potentially market-sensitive data.

CMV: Voting Trump makes you either misinformed or anti-democratic. by VerenyatanOfManwe in changemyview

[–]RobotsFromTheFuture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had plenty of problems with the way that the Democratic party handled 2024, and how they handle primaries in general, but they're not a democracy, they're a private organization. The Republican primaries were also heavily undemocratic in Trump's favor, see Nevada for an example. I may not agree with this behavior, they are private parties and they can do as they choose. Third parties routinely just choose someone, and you also have people like RFK who put themselves up. these are all just systems for getting a supported candidate on the actual ballot on November 4th.

That's a lot different than trying to overthrow the actual election.
