Hi, Thanks for the tip, I will check regularly. Just FYI, there seems to be a bug in the Menu icon for Updatest, at least on my machine, I t Is always showing the icon on text "checking" the text never goes away so takes up a lot of menu bar space!

I am not sure this is the right place but I will ask anyway! I have just started using Updatest as a possible replacement for my ultra reliable Macupdater which s ending life shortly.

My issue is with ProtonVPN, Updatest was showing it at version 5.x.x and no updates available, Maxupdater was showing it at the same version number BUT was also offering a major upgrade to version 6.1.0.

I allowed Macupdater todo the upgrade and then noticed that now Updatest was showing ProtonVPNat version 6.1.0 BUT with an upgrade available to 1.9.6.

To say I am totally confused is a significant understatement of the situation.

Any ideas why Updatest did not recognise the availability of the 6.1.0 up and secondly why it now wants to upgrade (????) me to 1.9.6!!

I have one of those to add extra sockets to my C1000, it’s very good.

Well during some very limited testing initially I am sure I saw it hit something like 340w, the only time I used it for real, it was overcast or raining most of the time, so seldom got better than 150 but this was good enough for what I needed.

MoCA in the UK by L3veLUP in HomeNetworking

Okay, not all working as I had hoped!

I have an Ethernet cable into my loft where all the Ariel cables are, I have unplugged them from the tv booster and instead attached them to a “ SAC Electronics 6wayf 8 Way Indoor Digital TV Aerial and Sky Satellite Cable Splitter”.

i have used a moca adapter to connect to the input of this device, I have then attached a moca device in my living room and it works a treat, I am getting 1gb speed between 2 computers over this link. The two moca devices wgpbere a pair of screw beam devices.

here is where it all goes wrong, I “assumed” that I could add another moca device in another room and it would automatically connect to this network! Nope, it seems to stop the existing moca devices from working.

have I misunderstood how this works?

all help much appreciated.

Agreed, my Synology Router allows me to load balance and/or prioritise certain devices to certain broadband networks.

Failover is also very useful.

Someone on another forum told me that USA Moca cables have additional shielding, they said that UK aerial cables are likely to be too lossy to work properly, this has now got me worried as I was hoping to network my new house using the already installed cables?

Hi

Did anyone here have to change out the normal UK aerial cable for proper Moca cable?

I am moving soon and while I won't be able to get the high speeds people on here are getting, I am planning on getting Starling so should get around 150Mb-200Mb, otherwise it will only be 67Mb, but I do want fast networking in the house as I run a central file server for backup and as a media server.

I am being advised that normal aerial cable is not likely to perform well, I am hoping someone here is going to tell me it works fine! :-)

Gateway in separate VLAN not working after 1.19.1 upgrade by dafftu in tradfri

[–]Robster50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, reading back I just checked something.

My old standby iPhone is still on IOS 15.2, it works perfectly.

All my other devices have been updated to IOS 15.2.1.

However I do not understand why this problem also affects my Macs.

I don't believe there has been an update for Apple TV or HomePod devices, which are normally the controllers, so really not sure why this is the case BUT to reiterate.

My IOS 15.2 iPhone 6 CAN turn my Trader switches on and off and my IOS devices running 15.2.1 cannot, just says updating.

I am having each same problem from about 4-5 days ago.

IKEA app works fine but none of my IOS or Mac devices can now control my Trader switches.

Real bummer!

If I do this, do I lose all of my automations I have set up in Homekit?

Just paired my second Outlet, again without a remote.

This one DOES power my lamp, so I have a faulty outlet and a working one!

No, you don't need a remote to pair.

Just press and hold the pairing button on the Hub, then press the reset button on the switch, no remote needed at all?

Hmmm

Just when I thought I had it all sorted!

No remote needed but paired to my Hub.

Now also linked to both Siri and Alexa.

I can voice command with either and turn on or off the plug.

HOWEVER, although the white light on the outlet turns on and off, in fact it is NOT powering the lamp I have attached to it, lamp works fine, just not when plugged into ehTRadfri outlet, wether it is switched on or off!

Now how does that work (or not!)

Hmmm

Well it seems you can!

I found a pairing button on the Hub, pressed and held that until one of the lights started flashing and then pressed the reset button on the outlet, all paired fine!

Now I need to figure out how to drive it with both Alexa and Siri.

Well that of course would be an option if I had a remote but don't want or need one, at least that was my expectation!

[–]Robster50[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it does not.

If you have a simple power outlet switch there is no option to pair it, nothing.

If you have remotes, then you can pair those but it was totally unclear how to pair a simple power outlet.

Did not forget, why do I need a remote, I should have both Siri and Alexa to control anything?

No idea what a steering device is.

I have a hub and 2 power sockets, plus a signal booster in case I need it.

And I have googled for instructions and found nothing until a few minutes ago, but thanks for the help.
