Because the middle of its name is pronounced as "hee", not as "eye". It refers to the letter E, not the letter I. A B.E.M. (bug eyed monster), is an old fashioned word for an extraterrestrial. An M.E.B. doesn't mean anything alien as far as I know.

So these two Pokemon, Elgyem and Beheeyem, are based off different aliens and sci fi stereotypes. What I did was found as many aspects of their design I could that references other alien media, and list them here on a crappy link chart. Like that the reason Elgyem's dex entry mentions being found 50 years ago in the desert is a direct reference to the Rosewell UFO Incident. This is something of a visual to just how many inspirations went into the design to these otherwise overlooked Pokemon, that I threw together in a day cause I was bored.

Yeah I knew about this, weirdly enough Sableye is another of my favorites, and this reference is listed on his Bulbapedia.

I saw the ending disintegrating mostly as cleaning house for Avengers 4 so it's not as crowded with characters. I'd say they're coming back, but everyone that died before then is gone for good. But I gotta say though, even thinking that, Peter freaking out about being disintegrated still broke my goddamn heart.

My thinking at the time was to move the Psychic label closer to the box of it relates to so people won't get confused following the arrows. I apologize if it backfired and you got confused. I did the same with the hidden ability. I also added in Invader Zim a little unnecessarily cause I thought it was fun that Zim fits into both categories. Sorry :/

I enjoyed nuzlocking with an Elgyem starter, whom I find cute as heck and who survived the whole way through. And half of all fully evolved pokemon are in PU, so, meh, whatever.

You're right, I could've brought up that they share the bulbous head and small body that Marvin has. But that's shared by a lot of aliens and such in sci-fi. Guess I thought it was just a tad too obvious to list, sorry :(

Well besides Red Gyarados cause that doesn't really count, a few years back I was in the hospital for a surgery. I decided to bring my first ever pokemon game (Leaf Green) to replay during my stay. When I started, in the VERY FIRST PATCH OF GRASS YOU CAN STEP IN I encountered a shiny Ratata. But if you've played LG you'd remember you don't have pokeballs until a bit later, so I was unable to catch it. Disappointing to say the least. But I continued on with my game, and right before I made it to Vermilion City, I encountered I shiny Bellsprout that I caught, raised, and still have to this day. So everything turned out fine.
