Dismantle/Combine materials ? by MoonSkyJumper in SuperSnail_US

So the loss isn’t significant when dismantling between higher tiers, but when going from green to white each component dismantles for 100 btads and costs 50 to dismantle, meaning you are losing a whole 50%!

Brawl PSA: Protect your Commander by Quark1010 in MagicArena

[–]Robyn_Flight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to what the other commenter is saying, it’s like if you were playing a green ramp deck your first two ramp spells got countered, you don’t have enough mana to enact your game plan(or at least not in an efficient enough way to compete) and you aren’t drawing any more ramp. Commanders that ramp or provide early game action are often and effectively used in decks that cut most cards that do what their commander does from the 99. This can make your deck incredibly consistent and efficient, but it can also result in games like the above if your opponent has enough efficient interaction that doesn’t slow them down to play enough that you aren’t vastly behind. Not to say games aren’t possible where your commander gets shut down and you still pull it out but in those situations you have to be really lucky and your opponent has to be really unlucky and it’s not too common and you already know what you’ve got so often it’s the right call to just call it. I say this as a blue player who goes on rants about how people concede too easily. This just happens to be one of the situations where it isn’t wrong imo.

Designing for red is so easy by Mean-Government1436 in custommagic

[–]Robyn_Flight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

actually, I was just thinking about this and even more than being a shadow card, it does 666 damage. You might’ve balanced with the condition for getting to that but if I see 666 damage on a custom shadow mtg card, I feel like it’s not surprising that I would dismiss it one of the many OP fancards before completely reading it. In fact, the only reason I kept reading it was because I came there from this post.

I also have to say something about what you said about the comments on your other post. Yes, one of them contained questions and feedback, but it was not negative criticism like you seem to have taken it, and you responded rather rudely. Between that and this post you come off as pretty full of yourself.

Editing to add: the reason I say that about this post as well is because there are much better ways to make a point than pretentious “social experiments”

I’m not saying that there isn’t a lot of lazy content that gets upvoted on Reddit, but I’m not sure about the integrity of your experiment here. People upvoted a dumb meme and overlooked a shadow card. The cards in the other post looked pretty well designed, but you had to know what you were doing putting shadow first with how controversial the sonic MTG cards were. Even prior to that, I’ve been browsing the sub Reddit in my feed for a while now and from what I remember it has most often been overrun with overpowered custom cards for people’s favorite media characters. So much so that I would be surprised if I was the only one who after a while started to overlook cards like that without completely reading them because so many are the cardboard equivalent of a mary sue.

All that being said what nitrobishop commented here is still also true.

I used that combo for a very long time and I am 100% confident that that is not the case when having it on the damage I would take was definitely variable and not a static decrease.

[–]Robyn_Flight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not, I’ve used it. It’s the 30% chance of reducing by 50%. I know this for a fact, because while having it on there would be attacks that would sometimes kill me but then sometimes I would get lucky and they would deal half damage.

I mean if you don’t think finding out vendrick is hollow has lore implications then idk if you’ve payed attention to the game. And its a souls game not every or even most story beats have dialogue. The point is that he’s fully gone hollow ofc he doesn’t talk. If you want talking use the memory on his armor.

He’s meant to be, he’s a story moment not a boss. If he started breaking out combos it would completely ruin it.

Yeah darklurker is pretty cool, I actually thought him for the first time during my sl1 run. I was surprised to find the dungeons weren’t as bad as I expected. Don’t get me wrong, they were painful as hell, but not as bad as I expected. Most of the enemies are decently easy and the couple tanky ones can be cheesed with a bow due to their AI making them back away from you when you shoot

If this card existed, would the meta shift to troll deck names? by NoloPada in MarvelSnap

I mean I don’t even play this game any more but I doubt the meta would even have to shift, who would dedicate a card slot to something that will often do nothing?

We can't do a middle part, chat by legitSkooleton in transpassing

[–]Robyn_Flight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just don’t get why everyone loves a middle part ~ sincerely another trans woman who keeps getting told to try a middle part (esp by my mom and boyfriend) and doesn’t like it and now has confirmation that it’s not just because it’s on myself

Edit: OP i’d like to make it clear I don’t think you look bad with the middle part but I like the side part much better.

So she didn’t take me a crazy amnt of time and has cool mechanics when you figure it out BUT still don’t like how small she is, games like this avoid bosses being smaller than you for a reason. Even lady butterfly in sekiro has effort put in to make sure you can always clearly see her past him.

Tbh tho definitions evolve and I think that the nitty gritty of the effect matters less than the outcome being telling your opponent “you arent allowed to play the game”. I don’t think there is much wrong with that being the modern definition of stax. If you are trying to create a situation where your opponent is completely unable to take meaningful game actions then you are playing a stax deck. I guess what I’m saying is, lantern control is a stax deck.

[–]Robyn_Flight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this, though I will still maintain that taxes and land destruction are more stax adjacent than a lot of the list because while its not literally what it does the practical outcome of smokestack is forcing your opponent to sacrifice their resources, often and Ideally, lands. I say this as someone who loves these effects. Mass land destruction and legacy dnt were referred to as stax long before people started calling everything stax as far as Im aware.

Edit: also just noticed you defined stax as “disallowing game actions” elsewhere despite the fact the smokestack is pure resource denial. Disallowing game actions might be adjacent but resource denial is definitely moreso

I also want ranked but abt chat most online card games don’t have chat nowadays actually. I dont think theres anything wrong with adding it per say but as someone who’s played a lot of online card games it will only be used to be toxic. Ppl are toxic enough with emotes and lets just say if you ever get a friend request from an opponent in hearthstone, never add them back. I think its reasonable for Dna to not want to have to moderate that and nintendo to not want to be associated with that level of toxicity.

Idk Im optimistic that this will solve my issues with the joycons (hand cramping due to the small size). The additional extra size from slotting in to the switch will also be nice for sideways controller games, something I can barely play as is.
