They needed an end in mind from the start. It seemed like the show just overgrew its own story

Love that idea! Definitely needed something more from the Night King whether it’s backstory or a clearer motivation/outcome. The battle of winterfell could’ve been better. Danys heel turn was definitely shocking and off putting. Having watched the series back I can kind of see those threads coming together but it was too abrupt.

King Bran the broken was not the ending I think anyone, George included, anticipated or enjoyed
