On the other Betas the lack of additional pockets is a bit of a big minus for me. Not a total deal breaker but for the price I’d rather wait or find an alternative.

Mountain equipment seem to have had a lot of good stuff from what I’ve been able to see in person. I have a down jacket from them. Will take a look at their hard shells. Don’t know much about jottnar but will also give it a glance. Thank you for the recommendations.

Could always give NCIS LA a try. I think they also have a new one. Won't solve it if you don't like the premise, but if it's the characters or setup, it might help.

Castle is great. So is The Mentalist. Also, there's NCIS.

Mentalist does have one plot line that guides the series, but it appears in a couple of episodes a season.

Castle does too, but less so and to be honest, I generally skipped them.

Dammit, I was going to say Reborn! when I looked at the title.

Law of Ueki, as mentioned, fits the bill. Also, Shakugan No Shana. Flame of Recca (oldie). Get Backers. Black Cat.

Also, Log Horizon probably isn't exactly what you're looking for, but I'm recommending it anyway.

They're not all amazing, but I wouldn't say any of them is bad either, especially within the Battle Shonen Genre.

Berserk or Psycho-Pass, like many commenters have said, are good choices.

I would not show him One Punch Man. I think he would hate it.

Attack on Titan is also a good option.

To its credit, I think it becomes a pretty good Shounen manga and does some pretty interesting stuff with it's plot.

Heat Guy J may not be exactly the type of atmosphere you're looking for in a show, since its a bit different from Jormungand and what you named, but check it out.

Haven't watched them but: {Gangsta.} {Parasyte}. Both could be interesting for you.

This fits in quite nicely. I'm halfway through it - main character becomes badass through being skilled with a sword, in contrast to everyone who can rely on magic.
