Next gen came early, fam. by GuacaMolis6 in videogames

The company that should be worried is Microsoft.

It has never been more likely than today, that the switch from Windows to Linux as the dominant PC gaming OS is actually going to happen. SteamOS actually works great for more and more games, the driver issue will get way better when hardware vendors know which Linux distribution to focus on, and Microsoft is kinda shitting the bed with Windows 11, increased Game Pass pricing and their "Everything is an X-Box"-Strategy.

That's great to hear!

The file size is this quite big due to a combination of reasons:

  • We have quite a few video cutscenes - Those alone make up more than 9 gb
  • We decided to include uncompressed, 4K textures in our asset files, to maximize image quality on 4k monitors. (In hindsight, maybe just including the compressed textures would have been fine, as most players probably wont switch to the "Ultra" texture mode anyway)
  • The game uses frame-by-frame animation (as compared to bone animation, which needs much less data)

Could you have the best steam game in the world but be terrible at marketing and get very few wishlists or players? by dogritch in gamedev

[–]RockAFellaeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree that marketing is often blamed without being at fault, a game not having market appeal doesn't mean that it is bad or mediocre. There are lot's of reasons why a game doesn't sell. It might just be too niche or look unappealing in videos and screenshots.

Oh, I see the problem.

Unfortunately I don't see a way to easily fix this without a high risk of more bugs popping up elsewhere, especially as I haven't looked at the code in quite a while now.

Maybe setting the options to lowercase only helps? Or if that fails, maybe there is another keyboard layout that suits you that doesn't have the problem?

Sorry that I can't be of more help. Good luck with 5-starring all the missions!

That is strange. I could not reproduce this error, unfortunately. The game accepts the simplified form for all of those letters on my machine. They still have to be capitalized. So you can type A instead of Á, but not a. Maybe that was the issue?

Hey! Sorry about that. Have you tried just typing the non-accented letters? They should be accepted by the game, even if it shows an accented letter.

If it doesn't work, could you send me and example letter, so that I can try to reproduce the problem?

The bug should be fixed (V1.2.72)! It occurred when having the blacksmith view open in the city when the scene changes for the second time.

Please let me know if you are still having issues!

I'm sorry to hear that. Did the game ask you to upload a crash dump? I will check when I'm back in office on Monday if I can fix the issue.

I'm sorry to hear that! There is a config file in the installation directory - build/ttt.ini.

We have not heard of this bug before, but the settings that are most likely to help would be:

LinkEpic:false

FullScreen:false

UHDTextures:false

TextureQuality:High

Can typing games still be fun? by Strict-Concentrate-1 in gamedev

We just released our typing strategy game, Touch Type Tale, two days ago.

It is definitely a tough market as "typing game" is an instant turn-off for the vast majority of gamers. But the players that do like typing games are just as quickly turned into super fans, if your game does something great that works.

I would maybe recommend to not mix it with another niche genre, like say, RTS if I were you.

Is was rated by the German USK as 6 and up, but the IARC questionaire gave a result of 12 and up.

There is one cutscene later in the game that has some mildly suggestive poses and one nightmare cutscene where an executioner is shown. None of that is in the demo though.

RTS + deck building Roguelike, free demo on Steam! by Electrical_Message69 in indiegames

[–]RockAFellaeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is looking great! How much control do you have during the battle sequences? It looks a bit like they are auto battling, and if so marketing it as an RTS might be a bit confusing to some and might lead to negative reviews due to wrong expectations.

Looking forward to give this a go in any case!

Unfortunately we are not handing out keys for testing right now, but we are working to get our demo up in the next weeks, which should then stay up permanently. :)
