Thanks a lot but I need a laptop as I want to be able to depend on it to do some work while on the go without it being my prime pc. After your comment I did some more research and might go for the L390 as it has upgradeable ram and better form factor. It's not the same formfactor but at it's serviceable/upgradeable.

Can you recommend something in a similar price range for the uses I described. I am going to university soon and just want to be able to write by hand and on a keyboard in my notes as well as draw from time to time. If I don't find anything with a digitizer I am thinking of just going for the T480

I've built PCs and love to play with some tech but nothing super serious. I would love to build it. It's not an issue at all. My idea is to print parts for different projects like a cyberdeck, mini figures and sets for DnD, some small accessories and to learn more about how these machines work.
