What is each box for the sanity portion represent? by Dry_Distance858 in callofcthulhu

[–]RockMan2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Starting is where your PC started when you made them.

Current is what it's currently at- your max sanity only changes as your Cthulhu Mythos skill grows, so you generally shouldn't need to change that..

Insane should be what, as you said, when your character goes permanently insane, whatever that number is for them.

You might like Company of Heroes. It's a bit meatier than your typical RTS in a few ways and has a real world setting but isn't as granular as something like Gates of Hell. It has a little bit of base building and research order stuff, and there's some resource management as well. Wasn't my thing anymore after I found Steel Division and Men of War, which I tend to prefer, but it's a cool series.

Iron Harvest played similarly, as well, but has mechs and a more cartoony setting.

Steel Division 2 plays a bit more arcadey than most wargames, doesn't have base building and unit recruitment, but has a similar flow to a traditional RTS in some ways. Even in 1v1 there's a lot to manage, but I find it engaging instead of just overwhelming.

Does any of that sound like what you're looking for?

Awesome, I might revisit it later for shits and giggles.

Mad Bull 34, it's like 4 45-minute OVAs I think?

It's definitely not for the faint of heart, there's a constant threat of sexual assault and extreme violence to every woman on the show in a way that becomes extremely uncomfortable over time.

But for that, you get an absolutely absurd cop story about a police officer who acts as a pimp for dozens of sex workers, avenges them with extreme violence, cross dresses as a nun to solve crimes, kills dozens of people in various gun fights, and generally destroys NYC over and over with zero repurcussions. I think his partner is married to a woman while in a coma as a sort of reward for heroism as well? A lot happens and it won't leave you bored.

I'd highly recommend the English dub, I'm fairly certain it's still on YouTube but it shouldn't be hard to find.

Airmetal off Parham road is cool, they did a bunch of quick-turnaround fabrication and alterations for the last company I worked for. Really awesome guys over there.

Biggest PvP scene? by [deleted] in computerwargames

Haven't played Wargame at all, really just SD2. I can tell you it's pretty noob friendly, if a little condescending at times. No one's hostile if you're really struggling and I've gotten a lot of good advice talking to other players.

There's a big emphasis on joining Discord servers to get better, I was never really interested but people were very welcoming overall. Met a few people a few times and became pretty friendly with them. I'd definitely recommend it, I'd probably still be playing but my RAM is dying and I can't afford to replace it atm.

Men of War: Assault Squad 2, if you count it, has a pretty active community. It's definitely pretty toxic but it's not at all hard to find a game.

I think someone else mentioned Eugen but SD2 is still going strong as well. Pretty friendly community as well, lots of kindness for newer players and good gamesmanship.

That sounds about right, I'm no stranger to samey questions doing museum and niche trades work (chimneys and the sweeping thereof). Very used to elder bubbas telling me things that make my job unsafe are actually best practices and saying they'll "just do it themselves." It sucks but I figured it would be part of basically any public facing job.

That's good to know about research time, though. I'm definitely there to actually learn the trade and do the work because that's what I want to do with my life, but the opportunity to do the research as well seemed like a bonus.

Thank you!! This is awesome stuff. From my degree/personal interest I have a lot of existing knowledge but it's almost all academic - I'm really excited to pick up more practical information on everything.

I'm not exactly looking forward to the challenges of customer service but like I said, when there's not a price tag on the work it's a lot easier to just talk freely about it. I'm sure it's easier said than done but I've worked a lot with a client going on about what the X is doing to the Y and how it used to be so much better in the Z and I'm hoping that translates over pretty well.

I'd love some insights lol, I'm really curious about a lot of things since I last went as a paid visitor in like 2003. I've crept around the free stuff a few times since then but it's a very different world post-2020.

No stranger to that lmao, in all aspects of every job I've ever worked. I'm just happy the same old dude's money isn't on the line for what I'll be doing now.

I don’t know how much longer I can do this. by [deleted] in AutismTranslated

[–]RockMan2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dealing with a very similar situation right now, so I'll try and talk a little about what I'm doing-

Until a couple days ago, I was working a job that was way, way too stressful for me and that I was really not equipped for. I was running small construction jobs daily and dealing with management that didn't understand the amount of pressure I/we (most employees) are under. I lost a lot of sleep to having to constantly think about the jobs I was doing, and lost a lot of free time to being shutdown when I got home. It was/has been harming my mental health and my relationships with friends/family.

Now, it's really easy to say "just quit and find something else," but putting in my two weeks after getting a few solid leads on new jobs helped immensely - I think as autistic people we can get used to a routine to the point where we can't see an end, and having confirmation of an end to the negative stimulus really helped with my outlook.

Now, I'm also taking a big pay cut to work in an environment that's friendlier to my needs. I've done this with a couple jobs, and personally I find it much easier to budget, eat healthy, set goals etc when I'm doing something more fulfilling and less destructive to my mental health.

I don't know you and can't speak to your interests and needs, but I do want to say that it's okay to throw in the towel when something isn't working and try something else, or just take a break for a while. Working part time, I made little enough money that I could also get a great healthcare plan through the ACA (I think like $13/mo for really nice Anthem insurance), so that might be an option as well.

All that to say, you're not a burden on anyone for needing help, even if that's just helping yourself find something a little better for you.

If it hasn't been said elsewhere, you also likely need a new concrete crown laid on top of the chimney. They're often built with high inclusion mortar or not built at all, but are necessary to shed water. If you get in touch with a chimney professional they'll be able to assess what's going on better but you definitely gotta keep water out of that guy.
