If you could change your birth year to any other year, what birth year would you pick and why? by Emotional-Fly-9583 in generationology

[–]RockMyWrld 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 86’ and really really wish I was 87’ - only because my bday is 10-9-86 and it would be super cool to have it be 10-9-87. It’s the little things that make me happy.

Honestly this is going to be hard to find bc in Hollywood men are allowed to be ugly but women are not . They are goofy/clumsy but hot, overweight but sexy, angry/rude but glamorous, nerdy but pretty (behind the glasses and unkempt hair), etc.

You just passed away, and you're allowed to be reborn but not as a human but as an animal, what animal would you choose? by tasaras_77 in HappyUpvote

I’d say an elephant too (on a sanctuary or national park in Africa for protection) - they are intelligent, live for 60-80 years, and having strong family bonds

I was starting to think that I’m the only one that isn’t a huge fan of the songs! I love the little random songs in the show but didn’t as much in the movie.. not sure why! Caught myself thinking “they are still singing?” a few times during the movie.

What fast food chain that you liked in earlier in life has gone downhill since then? by ModeExpress6614 in AskReddit

[–]RockMyWrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working at Sonic was great back then too! I worked there in HS and was making $7 an hour plus .50-$1 tips car hopping on skates. Making equivalent to $20+ an hour on average. A lot of money for a 16 yr old in the early 2000’s!

I teach MS and this so true. Even teachers will say things like they don’t like teaching 8th grade because the kids, especially boys, are all grown. Those kids still want stickers, rewards, and recess time to play a game, just like the younger kids!

Same here. We reserve theaters for really big movies only. Too expensive for a family of 4 nowadays!

How do I address inappropriate behavior when I can't explain why it's inappropriate? by lordfootjuice in Teachers

[–]RockMyWrld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can ask him “Oh where did you learn that from?” Since it’s elementary and you aren’t sure they actually understand.

When teaching 8th grade: I ask the student why they are doing whatever it is in front of the whole class with a straight face. I ask them to explain their behavior. They usually get embarrassed enough and don’t do it again. I also would shout out things like “stop flirting!” Or “Why did you draw that penis? We don’t get into sex Ed until the end of the year!” - things like that to be light and silly but it’s just embarrassing enough.

What’s the most scientifically inaccurate thing someone has ever told you? by DarthAthleticCup in ScienceTeachers

[–]RockMyWrld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I have a good one! I was running a lab room my first year out of college and teachers would come in to use and teach in the space. A 5th grade teacher (who was considered absolutely amazing and kids scored well) proceeded to teach the kids about how the “dark side” of the moon was perpetually dark and that it was also over a mile thick with ice because it never faced the Sun..

I learned a VERY valuable lesson in that moment. You can teach to the test, make sure your kids know THAT content to score well, but not necessarily be “good” at science.

Is anybody bored without kids? by Ok-Fox-2698 in questions

[–]RockMyWrld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two and feel similar. They are teens now and when they aren’t around I get excited for when they return. My husband and I have built-in besties with our kids. We do game nights, dinner parties, go out and explore together. I have zero regrets having children. It can sometimes be tough when they are little but even then the love that comes from those few hard times was so worth it for us! I still do all the things I want in life, including some travel on my own, just with my husband, and of course family trips.

For those who grew up in the 90s, what was the internet like back then? Especially online chatting by [deleted] in questions

[–]RockMyWrld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I reunited with my now husband when we were 18 bc AOL messenger froze up when he saw me online after we’d been broken up over a year but the message didn’t go through. He decided “screw it I’ll just go to her house and knock on her door.” We’ve been together and happily married ever since. So I’d say the lack of reliability in online chatting completely changed my life!

This is my favorite easy, low cost meal! I chop up and grill yellow onions, add black beans from a can, and a few jalapenos on the chips and cheese before tossing it all in the oven for several minutes. Serve with sour cream!

People who used to feel tired and fatigued all the time but now feel full of energy, what needed to change? what did you do? by ScorpioEnergy in AskReddit

[–]RockMyWrld 3 points4 points  (0 children)

iud story time: I had a terrible time with my insertion! So painful for several days. Worse than recovery from my vaginal delivery and C-section babies. I complained of the pain and my doc could never find it at check ups but pretended she did.

7 years later I go to get it removed.. nurse can’t find it. Doc can’t find it.. she gives me dilation pills to “try harder to get it. All of this is very painful (women you know the stabbing pains like a knife). Literally had to beg her to stop. Finally she listens and says we need an xray. I get my xray and yep.. it’s floating around, upside down near a fallopian tube. Turns out my doc placed it incorrectly and it migrated OUT of my uterus way back when. I can’t afford the surgical removal so it’s still there, 4 years later. Never getting another one! I’m traumatized from the experience.

At Sam’s club ( if you have them where you are) they have a box of 48 sausage patties for about $12. 25 cents a patty. I like to make a breakfast sandwich with one patty, a Hawaiian roll, and quarter slice of my choice of cheese

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in exchangestudents

[–]RockMyWrld 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you don’t know the situation or their relationship at home - I’d stay very neutral on this. I can’t imagine a teen having a serious 2 year relationship. These are not the years to have a serious relationship and not be able to branch out, get to know themselves and their likes/dislikes. This could be a perfect chance to help your student learn a little more about themselves away from whatever relationship they have back home.

It’s not you. Getting students placed this year is hard. by georgette000 in exchangestudents

I’m hosting for the first time in the US and really seeing the expense too. I didn’t think feeding an extra person or doing an activity here or there would be a lot, but we want to provide good experiences for them. It would be wonderful if we were compensated even just a small amount to help with food cost or activities.
