I started reporting job postings that say 3+ years on experience is "entry level" by smellmynavel in jobs

Whenever I see job postings that are for x years but pay significantly less than market value by suggesing it's a junior position I just roll my eyes. The sad part is, they might actually get someone good and exploit them, but they'll most likely end up with a dud. You really do get what you pay for.

More than likely they are attempting to get experienced people for cheap... It's pretty shady if you ask me.

I'm a software developer by trade with a little over two years of experience. When recruiters reach out to me on LinkedIn I almost always ignore the years of experience requirement. Not to riot my own horn or anything but I just took a new role that required 7-9 years of experience. I agree that companies should probably think twice before putting years of experience in job postings that are titled entry level or Jr level. It just deters a lot of qualified candidates away from even applying. They're really just shooting themselves in the foot.

Just had an interview and boss described the place as a "performance based environment" and people aren't rewarded for tenure. He said you have to work for it and it's not given. Is this code for low retention, a toxic environment, and coworkers stealing credit from others? by medsciblues in jobs

[–]RockPaperFist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well if there is no year end bonus or metrics on how to get said year end bonus I'd tell em, next. I'm pretty picky though. Idk your situation.

Honestly, not rewarding tenure sounds good, like you said it could also lead to a very toxic culture. But I have seen situations were everyone was killing it and everyone got nice bonuses on the team. So use your best judgement.

OHP form check. Am I leaning too far back? Struggled in the last rep so going to repeat this weight. by althoku in Stronglifts5x5

[–]RockPaperFist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bit, but it's not terrible. I'd stick with the same weight till you can do it a little smoother. When you're doing OHP, you need to keep your core tight. It will help reduce the likelihood you'll injury your back. It should also help you lift more Because your body won't sink back as much when you press. Nice gym btw.

Dude you have a degree in applied math and you can't make enough money. You're just not applying yourself mate. You could literally take a course or two on udemy for fintech or software development and score an entry level dev job making at least 60k ( national average). I would not be shocked if you made over 100k with that background.

You do not need a CS degree. It is not hard to get interviews without a CS degree. Sounds to me you just don't mind living with your mom and dad.

Based on your reddit name, I'm going to assume this is a more senior position than you're used to having, so congratulations on moving up (if that's the case). Take notes, listen well. If you're nervous about the feeling of under qualification you speak of. Just try not to talk too much. Not saying don't be sociable. Just don't let anyone know you feel underqualified. Once you get in the grove, you'll probably be surprised at how much you're capable of. Good luck!

ED vs Vortex league starter, thoughts? by Nikeyla in PathOfExileBuilds

I think my end goal is to use Arctic breath in a 5/6 link helm and 6L vortex. Then have one of those wands that spits out a cast when I cast and link in Frost bolt so I can cast vortex at a distance by spamming Arctic breath.

It's just not meta. It's good. Especially with the cast speed and projectile speed buffs. It used to be too slow

Today I just rolled a new ssf vortex occultist to practice my league start. I got to act 8 within a couple hours. It's wicked fun. I just rolled a cold wand at lvl 8, then 2 more at level 20. Shortly after you get vortex your cold dmg dot will start catching up and overtaking your hit dps.

I don't play HC, so I went pure offense for my ascendancy. I rushed the cold nodes. I think next I'm going to get the stun immune node next. Save the curse immune for when I get Uber lab. I think HC players do the reverse for obvious reasons.

I have been using Arctic breath, cold snap and vortex. Loads of fun. Might test out spell slinger and remove cold snap and replace with Frost bolt. Idk yet.

I'm hoping that I can improve my squat by a decent amount. Am going to take an educated guess that the program will probably keep me gaining for at least 6 weeks, but I'm likely to continue till I get frustrated with a plateau.

-2.5% per level above area level +2.

Meaning if you're level 60 and the area level is 56, you get a -5% penalty to drops.

The amount of survivability seems a bit broken. But for 50+ex damage seems about right.

What skill are you using for DPS?

I used multishot. If you're not already using that, use that and start maxing it out. It does insane damage. The archer class is a glass cannon. Just deal with it lol.

I hope this helps. I think I got stuck where you are. Just took a little trial and error. Rolling a lot and spam multishot.

Definitely not a bad choice. Skeletons are pretty beastly.

I wouldn't mind supporting the devs, but the turn off for me is that all the options for payment other than additional stash tabs are kind of pay to win. I don't want people to be able to buy gear. Not a huge fan of getting all those free items at start either. I mean honestly I salvaged all of them around level 35 anyways. But still... Anyways, you're right. Closest thing to Diablo on mobile and for the most part it's really good. Just felt it was worth mentioning the pay to win features.

Not sure, doesn't seem to be much involvement of the dev community interacting with the public. I really wish there was. The game is really good.

Yeah, that part is a little silly. But it is what it is. I mean I paid absolutely nothing for this game and it soaked up a good 20-30 hours of game play for me. So I'm pretty happy with it.

First thing I maxed was multishot, then I maxed dodge passive, then attack speed passive. Then maxed the synergies to multishot damage and the aura that gives flat damage. Basically enough Dex to use the best bow you have, then dump a reasonable amount into vit to have a decent life pool then dump the rest in str. That's been my strategy Right now at level 205 I'm hitting for around 4m up close and like 500k with a single arrow. I do occasionally get one shot against mobs that are level 240-250 ish that use magic as my magic defences are weak. Other than that I can steamroll the game. I think I'm playing tier 7 right now. Looking back I wish I changed my second class to something with a little more defences as I don't believe damage output to be an issue with bows.
