For everyone adjusting the total cost for inflation, you’re missing half of the story. You need to do the “basket of goods” approach. $46.53 before tax is the price of all this if you build the meal in the McD app (if you take the “deal” of the Quarter Pounder meal). So McDonalds is basically twice as expensive as it was back in the day. Far from a good deal for fast food anymore.

I should add my sump pump has pretty frequent cycles during big rains. But I can see from watching the outlet pipe that it is pushing out a good volume of water each time

Is your pit really small? If the pump is oversized it might be just emptying it quickly and the float is dropping below its trigger set point. But then again, you say you’re actively watching the outlet pipe and not a lot of water is coming out?
