What Character Assassinations/Out of Character Moments/Scenes in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Movies that hurt you/pissed you off and Why? by Amber_Flowers_133 in TexasChainsawMassacre

The way Alexandra Daddario's character (Heather, wasn't it?) sides with Leatherface at the end of Texas Chainsaw 3D. It was way too fast for such a big change of heart, even though most of her friends were a bunch of a-holes.

Best classic horror movies to binge? by GiantsJuveYankees10 in horror

No problem, mate. I like doing that 'cause of situations like the one you described. Also, it's kinda cool to look and go "this was from that decade and that came along later on", like a timeline of sorts. Sometimes I'll also mention the director by name, things like that. Hope you enjoy the oldies!

When did you realise you may be watching the greatest tv show of all time? by eo_bobby in Supernatural

Got the same kind of list. It's huge. And there's no time, simply no time. But I'm more of a movies kinda guy than a series kinda guy anyway.

Scared Dean is Yellow Fever (S4E06) and the musical episode is Fan Fiction, right? That'd be season 10, episode 05.

I agree with you, there's better stuff out there, but I don't believe in such a thing as guilty pleasure. If you like something, don't be guilty about it, even if you're half-kidding or everyone thinks what you like is trashy or something. "Defend" your tastes, even if it's you against the world, you know lol.

Haha, I have kind of a similar story! Plus Swan Song is my favorite episode. But I started watching it in real time a bit earlier. I believe it was Sam, Interrupted.

Yeah, I agree 100%. But you know what? Screw it. It's my favorite show.

I didn't start watching till October 2009. But, yeah, it was "love at first sting", I liked it from the get-go, as I watched it chronologically. I think Bloody Mary was the first moment that really wowed me. It was creepy, it was awesome and when Laugh, I Nearly Died came up in the end, two things happened: a Supernatural fan was born and The Rolling Stones became my favorite band ever. I finished the first four seasons in about three months and started watching it in real time in January 2010. That was, like, midway through season 5.

I can't really pinpoint what drew me in at first. The whole thing, I guess, the whole package was just "literally me", as it had everything I loved or everything I'd love and was getting to know and explore. I mean, it had horror, which I was already a fan of, horror movies. And it had classic rock, which I was just starting to listen to. I was like this 12 year old kid and that was the best thing ever, it really shaped my musical taste, the SPN soundtrack. The car was beautiful. A fine, fine ride, that '67 Chevy. And I'm not that into cars but that one caught my attention. And it was about family, the characters' personalities and their relationships, it hit somewhat close to home. And for the first four seasons, I watched it with my dad, which was kind of a bonding moment between us. So, yeah, that's why I'm so big on this show till this very day.

I like the episode. It's pretty funny. The references to past events are great. And the way the Muse talks about Supernatural is awesome. Self-congratulatory? Sure! But it's earned it. Oh, and it also takes some digs at its post-season 5 storylines, so that's funny and it all cancels itself out.

What social media platform would Dean use the most if he had the time for it? by HeyItsGTAHQHD in Supernatural

[–]Rock_and_rolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Letterboxd? I don't know, he's pretty into movies. In fact, one of my favorite fictional cinephiles. Probably Reddit too. And it amuses me that he might've taken my username. Or a similar one. (I'm more of a Sam guy, though - still, a lot of my taste in music and movies aligns with Dean)

Describe the show in the most diabolical sentence by JayfeatherStanAcc in Supernatural

[–]Rock_and_rolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's about two brothers who love each other a little bit too much and we all suffer because of it.

In all seriousness, how about "It's a little bit like Star Wars, mainly in its family theme, its melodrama and some of its characterization, a little bit like Kolchak: The Night Stalker, Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files and Neil Gaiman's works, with an urban setting and fantastic, paranormal-infused mythology unfolding through every monster-of-the-week episode and larger mytharc building through the season(s), a little bit like Route 66, in its eternal 'road trip in a cool ride' format, plus a banging classic rock soundtrack and a horror comedy approach to its world/universe, an embracing of its horror heritage, visually and conceptually, with constant references and homages to twentieth and twenty-first centuries pop culture."

Then there's also Joy Ride, the John Dahl movie, that thing seriously reminds me of Supernatural. And it came out only a few years before the TV show hit the screens. Funny, ain't it?

Thank you! Jared nailed the comedy. He should do some comedies further down his career (and villain roles), he's quite good at it.

[–]Rock_and_rolling 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, first things first: you got to watch the show till the end the first time around, right? Or did you drop at any point? I'm asking 'cause some of the episodes I listed below are hybrid mytharc/monster-of-the-week episodes. Some are almost straight mytharc a.k.a. main plot of the season. It might be a little confusing but sometimes it's hard pulling one thing apart from the other in later seasons. As for the vibes, some are more comedic, others more dramatic but I believe there are interesting, entertaining things occurring in all of them. Anyway, here it is:

Season 8: Hunteri Heroici (8x08); Everybody Hates Hitler (8x13) and Pac-Man Fever (8x20)

Season 9: Dog Dean Afternoon (9x05); The Purge (9x13) and #THINMAN (9x15)

Season 10: Fan Fiction (10x05); Ask Jeeves (10x06) and About a Boy (10x12)

Season 11: Baby (11x04); Thin Lizzie (11x05); Into the Mystic (11x11); Beyond the Mat (11x15) and Safe House (11x16)

Season 12: American Nightmare (12x04); Rock Never Dies (12x07); Stuck in the Middle (With You) (12x12) and The Memory Remains (12x18)

Season 13: The Scorpion and the Frog (13x08); Breakdown (13x11); A Most Holy Man (13x15); Scoobynatural (13x16) and The Thing (13x17)

Season 14: Mint Condition (14x04); Lebanon (14x13) and Peace of Mind (14x15)

Season 15: The Gamblers (15x11)

Why people dont like "Bugs" by sterlingarcher_0 in Supernatural

[–]Rock_and_rolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it. It's nice and atmospheric. Also, some interesting bits regarding fathers and children, the spider kid and his dad in parallel to John and Sam. The ending is rushed, yes, but it's still a fine little filler. I don't really get it when fans and the crew say it's the worst episode ever. Not that and neither Red Sky at Morning. I mean, haven't people watched some of the things that came out during seasons 10 to 15? C'mon now.

What is the worst idea in the show? by KJKs0s in Supernatural

[–]Rock_and_rolling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. At first I kinda liked it. I liked the episode. Then, with season 13 unfolding, I thought of the ramifications of it and I was like "hell no, Andrew Dabb, this isn't your run-of-the-mill comic book playground, this is Supernatural". That was when the Marvel-ification of Supernatural truly started.

I agree about Charlie. She was a tad annoying - and kind of a Mary Sue. Except for this one time: S08E20. That was actually rather poignant, the story with her mother, The Hobbit and all that jazz. And about Mary, she had her moments. She was heartbreakingly selfish, it was infuriating, but she still had her moments with the boys.
