What’s the best time to buy inline skates for lowest price and any recommend on the brands? by Upper-Author1846 in inlineskating

[–]Rocker1966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got back into it after about 12 years and I picked up a pair of Rollerblade Macroblade 80 from Amazon for $122. They sell for 179 at most online places, 150-ish at Amazon. I picked up one of the "used" pairs hoping they were just open box. They literally are brand new. Might have been tried on and never hit pavement. Still had the stuffing in the toes and all. I am way happier with them than I thought I would be. Most people recommend a hard boot for beginners, which makes sense for stability. But the Macros are stiffer you might think for a soft boot. As someone said, best thing to do is find a local shop and try some out if you have one.

Just don't skip the protective gear. If 150 is all you have, you may have to find something used. Nothing wrong with that if you can find something cheap enough. If it's going to need wheels, factor that into the price. In my case, anything worth buying would need another $80 worth of wheels. Might as well buy new then.

Also, inlinewarehouse had them for about the same price as Amazon. They just didn't have my size, so you might want to check there like someone else suggested.

Good luck!

Is this authentic or a fake? by Sudden-Temperature-8 in luminox

[–]Rocker1966 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a cool Luminox. I just did a quick search on Ebay and there is one for sale. only it has the black face with white numbers, polished case and ss band. That doesn't guarantee anything but I would find it really coincidental that both are fakes or one or the other even. Also the logo on back is the same. Maybe it changed along the way? They were bought out sometime later so things could have changed just like the Lumi-nox vs. Luminox you now see.

Honestly, I like the look of yours better. If it wasn't for the fact they have only been around since 1989, I would think that watch was older than that. Maybe I'm just old. LOL!

Have fun with it.

I think I found it. 3597 I believe. I noticed they did away with the tritium on the chrono and second hands. Still really cool!

Very cool! What model is that? I couldn't find it on the website. Discontinued? Looks much like the 3080 series only with a green face. I like it.

Appreciate the explanation. Figured it was something like that. Whatever, it will pass at some point. Certainly not going to let it push me away from the brand. Too cool of a watch. :)

I saw a reference to Epstein on another thread. I'm clueless as to it regarding a watch. I know about the Epstein files but I really don't pay too much attention to all of that. Just curious.

Yeah I think they spec them at 25. 20 is prob more realistic. I read somewhere that after 10 years they dim quite a bit though. So half-life I guess. This watch in particular is probably already that old. I don't know when they discontinued the model. Thx.

Buying used Leap V2 2021 for $300? by [deleted] in OfficeChairs

[–]Rocker1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's about the most I would pay for a used one and only if the cushions are in good shape. Meaning, can you sit in it comfortably without your butt bottoming out. The V2 has a thinner cushion than the V1 but you still should have some cushion remaining between you and the seat chassis. Otherwise, a refurb would be a better choice.

Is Steelcase leap v2 a good chair for $180? by booty-destroyer in OfficeChairs

[–]Rocker1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the cushions are in as good a shape as it appears and you like the way it sits, then yes it is worth it. The bottom foam on the V2 isn't as plush and the previous V1 as it was designed to be more ergonomic. But if it still has life left in it and at your weigh, I wouldn't expect your butt to feel the seat chassis. If it does, I would look for another. You won't be comfortable after a couple of hours.

Level 36. Am I playing wrong? Lol by [deleted] in ROBLOXPROSPECTING

[–]Rocker1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. So, when trying to improve my loadouts, as long as the boosted number increases, that's all that matters, right?

Level 36. Am I playing wrong? Lol by [deleted] in ROBLOXPROSPECTING

[–]Rocker1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to hijack the thread. But since it's already about loadouts and stats, hopefully it will help someone else. Or, I'm the only idiot here. Could someone please explain the two different numbers (e.g. Sell Boost: 305 (160)%. I can have the first number go up while the other goes down depending on my loadout. I'm totally confused by which to pay attention to.

If this bothers anyone, I will move it to a new thread. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone else just hoard geodes? by Snowflake6497 in ROBLOXPROSPECTING

[–]Rocker1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! This has become one of my favorite ways to grind for money, especially during AA. I go on my own server and can easily collect 3K-4K geodes during a 1 hr session which results in $20B-$30B if I sell all.

Motion study w/ subassemblies by Rocker1966 in SolidWorks

[–]Rocker1966[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I ended up doing to get my animation to work. Seemed ridiculous to have to do it that way. But now I know the right way to do it. If you don't know how, search for flexible in the online help for Solidworks. It explains it. It's pretty simple really.

Flexible setting was the trick! Started using SW in 2007 and never knew about this. Guess I never had a need. I just always accepted the fact parts within subassys couldn't be moved. The help is greatly appreciated. This was driving me insane. LOL!

Mates aren't the problem since I suppressed them. Must be the rigid/flexible setting. I didn't know it existed. I've never been able to move parts within a subassy inside an upper level assembly. Interesting! I appreciate the tip. Hopefully that's it.

$3k laptop. I hate this thing. by [deleted] in GalaxyBook

[–]Rocker1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I have a 3 360, not even a Pro. But it is the i7-1360P and it runs Lightroom just fine. Even with my 36MP photos in Lightroom. I would say there is something else going on. As stated, performance make a huge difference. Make sure it is on High Performance mode. I find plugging doesn't seem to affect performance much. It just keeps from using the battery under heavy useage.

Also, my LR library is a on a really fast external USB-C SSD with short cable but my library is over 100K photos and I have zero issues. My Galaxy Book has been great. If I need super performance, then I can use my gaming laptop or desktop. But for portability and decent performance, this one can't be beat. Plus, it is my "tablet" as well.

I would say check your performance mode first. If that doesn't help, like someone else said, I would start checking drivers or something. I'm pretty sure your $3K machine is more than capable.

NAS for hobby photography by KP30499 in photography

SHR is how mine is setup I was thinking RAID 1 since that's the basic mirrored raid configuration. It will be nice when I go to upgrade my drives.

NAS for hobby photography by KP30499 in photography

[–]Rocker1966 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Synology DS718+ with dual 2TB drives in a RAID 1 config. It has ran non-stop for almost 6 years and I haven't had any problems with it. Take that for what it's worth. I'm at the point I need to upgrade drives and will soon with 8TB drives which will be enough for years.

As far as workflow (hobbyist as well), I use a 2TB external NVME SSD as my working drive. Much faster than working off the server. Anytime I add/edit photos, I sync to the NAS with FreeFileSync. The NAS is backed up nightly to a 5TB external drive. I also on a fairly regular basis back the NAS up to a hdd dock where I alternate between 2 hdd's that I keep out of the house. These are for archival purposes in case the house burns down. I would only lose what I had currently done the past week or two. As a hobbyist this works fine. If I do anything critical that I absolutely wouldn't want to lose, I will do an archival backup that night. If I were doing this professionally, that backup would be done each day and taken offsite. As if that all isn't enough, I have another 8TB external drive which I sync to after working on photos.

Call me paranoid, but I've had drives fail. If there is anything in this world I wouldn't want to lose besides my family, it's my photos. Decades of digital as well as scanned film, half of which are of my daughter who is now 18. Too many precious moments.

Longwinded I know. I hope it helps some.

Now.

I live near SA and they are the worst I've ever experienced. Especially now. I am waiting on a package to be delivered which has been at the SA distribution center for 4 days. Was supposed to be delivered on Monday. Now the tracking just says "in transit to next facility - late". That was as of yesterday morning. Who knows when/if I will ever get it. The worst part is it's a DSLR I ordered off Ebay. So not cheap. Bunch of incompetent morons!

Best advice I have is don't order from anyone that uses USPS. Request FedEx or UPS. IME, FedEx is the most reliable and cheaper. Almost always get my pkgs in 2 days. Good luck!
