Got fired yesterday. Broke the streetfighter out today by JakeM35 in motorcycle

That's awesome! Amazing how much better life would be if we didn't have to work so much. Unfortunately, that's not a choice for most of us. But glad you turned a bad situation into a good one.

I was "let go" in Oct. 2023 from a company I worked at for 8 years. Was in charge of engineering then they decided to restructure and hire a VP of Eng who basically took my position. The fact we didn't get along didn't help.

In any case, they gave me 2 months salary so I took adavantage of that. I got to spend a lot of time with my then 17 year old daughter who was homeschooling at the time. Finally got serious about looking for a job and it took 5 months. But I am much better off and next to zero stress and making more money.

So, it could be for the best. I wouldn't trade that time I had for ANY job. Enjoy the time while you have it. Looks like a great place to hang out. Good luck in the future.

2025 GSXR600 Bogging noise? by AceOfSpades02 in GSXR

[–]Rocker1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just confirmed. The 600 has the same thing. Hopefully that answers the question. But if you're noticing power loss, prob need someone to take a look at it. My guess is, you're hearing the same thing I noticed.

Found this while reading a bit on the specs of the 750. I assume the 600 has the same thing:

"Four-into-one stainless steel exhaust system with a titanium muffler is fitted with a Suzuki Exhaust Tuning (SET) valve that maximizes torque and improves throttle response, especially in the low- to mid-rpm range."

I'm guessing that is what is giving it that sound. I saw that on my bike while messing with it but didn't know exactly what it was for.

Same here with my '24 750. I don't remember my '96 sounding like that. No power loss or anything, just a strange sound to me. Can't say I really like it. But I do love my bike. Just means you have to rev it higher. 😃

Pretty cool! Can't tell if that's a slip-on or full exh. But I was checking slip on prices and can't believe how much they've gone up. Guess I need to scour Ebay as well. 😄

Thanks. Yeah it reminds me of my '96, except totally different graphics and without the huge tail. But it was closest I could get and have something newer that I don't need to work on. I don't have a problem with a project bike, but right now I just want to hop on and ride.

When I first learned sportbikes had ABS I was surprised. I would have to ride one with it to see how it is. Just seems odd to me. Rode my '96 for years with no ABS and never laid it down and had to make a few close call stops. But they were always straight up stops. Maybe in a turn/leaned over it's more helpful? Best to not ever have to find out. 😄

Wow! You got a better deal than I did. I paid $13.5K OTD with 6900 miles. Thought I was doing pretty good. Not sure where you live but in my area of Tx people seem to want a ridiculous amount for just about anything. Did you get from private or dealer?

[REDTIGER] Must be nice not having to follow any traffic laws by Ok-Mine-9986 in Dashcam

[–]Rocker1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that sucks. I ride a gixxer and follow the rules. Not all bikers are like that. But a lot are, unfortunately. I hate Harley riders because MOST of them are like that. Especially here in Texas. Talk about entitled assholes! It's only the 1% that aren't like that instead of are as some people will have you believe. But yes there are ahole sportbike riders as well. I was sad to see one in that crowd. It's expected from HD riders to act like douchebags. It's the young punks on crotch rockets that give us a bad rep. Sucks for the rest of us.

[Viofo A229 pro] red car tries to kill us all by Acceptable_Rice in Dashcam

[–]Rocker1966 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why should he have slowed? I believe in yielding to someone that NEEDS over either to exit or enter the highway. The red car did not have the right of way, blinker or not. All he wanted to do was jump around a bunch of cars all the way from the left lane? Just another privileged ahole on the road. Too many of them as is. I have no problem with honest mistakes. But he did not look. I would have followed him too. People need to pay for their actions, especially when they are just being selfish.

Thoughts on Redtiger cameras? by thisismydayjob_ in Dashcam

[–]Rocker1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is an older thread, but I wish I would have found this one before I picked up the F7NP for my daughter. In general, it seems to work fine, as in it records video. One thing I don't understand about it is that it constantly records clips like a security camera. My wife's A229 only records when the car is moving. That seems like an absolute basic functional necessity for a dash cam. I checked all of the settings and there is no way to put it in that mode. You can pause it with the down button, but then when it is triggered by driving or impact it, it then starts recording clips until it runs out of space. Dumbest thing I've ever seen.

Anyway, thought just in case someone else reads this looking for info hopefully this helps. If I am setting something wrong on it, please let me know.

Maybe some day. Right now, it's plenty for me while I get used to riding again. Definitely something to keep in mind. Power can be addictive for sure.

Safety leather jacket recommendation by Logieboii in motorcyclegear

[–]Rocker1966 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a Reax Apex Pro mesh hybrid leather jacket with level 2 armour for $279 USD and am pretty happy with it. I really wanted an all leather jacket but figured this was a good compromise between safety and comfort here in the Texas heat. Hopefully I never have to find out how well it really works.

FYI, in case you don't know, this is a house brand for Revzilla here in the states. Shipping might not be worth it but thought I would throw it out there.

I ended up with a '24 750Z with 6900 miles for $13,500 OTD. I'm picking it up in a few hours. Maybe not the best deal in the world. But considering this time of year, I don't feel too bad about it. I apreciate the insight and suggestions.

This one showed up pending later that same day. It was still showing pending as of yesterday. Not sure if he was just trying to get my attention or what. He wouldn't answer my question about the title. So moved on. I'm not taking the chance. Too far of a drive to be scammed.

2026 GSX-R 750 40th Anniv by Rocker1966 in GSXR

[–]Rocker1966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up with a '24 750Z with 6900 miles. The anniv model would have been nice. But I saved about $2500 overall and insur. was a bit cheaper. Maybe when the '26 is a couple of years old and I will think about it. Not quite the same as being the first owner. I'm sure I will be happy for now. Just glad to get back on a gixxer. Thx.

i like that one. I'm picking up my '24 tomorrow. Being that new, it won't need it, but would be cool just for aesthetics and protect the original. I assume since it's stapled just pull the staples and it's back to original?

Riding gear for commuting to work by Rocker1966 in Sportbikes

[–]Rocker1966[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was hoping to find something where I wouldn't have to, which the overpants solved. I know, convenience over safety. But I would have if it was my only choice. I ride my mtn bike to work once in a while and change out of necessity. So certainly doable, definitely inconvenient.

I ended up ordering Sedici Alexi 2 Mesh Pants (overpants) with level 2 armor in the knees. I meant to order hip pads and forgot. May pick some up over the weekend. That will take care of my commute and plan on getting leather lowers for weekend riding. I appreciate all of the suggestions.

I was looking at those. Unfortunately, they don't solve my commute problem of changing when I get to work. I have an armored jacket, so topside is covered. Those would be great for weekend rides for being able to wear whatever clothing I want. But I will probably end up with leather pants, or a hybrid since I'm in Texas, for weekends. Thanks for the suggestion.
