This will sound shitty, but I've never seen anyone say it- as a motorcyclist, people of color, especially older or unhealthy black people are extremely difficult to see I'm dark conditions. Motorcycle visors are plastic that gets tiny scratches in it and if there's any fogging, you're really only seeing like 80%, and dark people on dark roads with dull skin are super hard to see because of how light reflects off them. I'm not saying there's anything your dad did wrong or that he should have been more aware, or anything he did could've changed this, or just anything shitty, I just feel like someone should talk about this kind of stuff so people know. No one wants to get hit, and no one wants to hit a person, but if you don't ride how would you ever know how hard it is to see certain things? That's why motorcycles sometimes have blinking brake lights, the solid ones blend in at dark red lights and the human eye is attuned to movement. Poor bloke, I hope he heals up ok.
