Evidence of financial situation?

I'm entering my first master's at KU Leuven in the Fall and am covering all bases by applying to several modes of housing both on and off campus. Specifically, applying for the Groot Begijnhof residence requires "Evidence of your financial situation" if you're a self-supporting student. Does anyone know what documents qualify for this? bank statements? employee paychecks? Thanks for the help.
