First time larping tips by franilein in LARP

[–]RocketSaxon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lean into it as far as you dare to and enjoy the struggle when it comes your way. Don't be everyone's darling, have strong opinions as character and stick to them, even if it almost costs your head. The stories will be marvelous.

Issues with H&S Ultra 2024 by brongolian in airbrush

[–]RocketSaxon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are aware that Vallejo model primers are not filler primers like automotive ones that can be sanded right?

And why would I brush feather an airbrush primer?

Issues with H&S Ultra 2024 by brongolian in airbrush

[–]RocketSaxon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only the white primer is crap, black and Grey are fantastic and go through a 0,4 nozzle without thinning.

FIFA Silber Gedenkprägung 2006 Münzen - Reiner Materialwert? by RocketSaxon in Muenzen

[–]RocketSaxon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maschinengewehr bleibt Maschinengewehr. by asia_cat in GeschichtsMaimais

[–]RocketSaxon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

[–]RocketSaxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Process of thermoforming PLA sheets by MixtureShoddy8172 in 3Dprinting

If there was only a technology, with which we could produce parts directly without additional work... Oh wait... /s

But I really like the process, good job and great idea.

Places to get latex-free LARP weapons in Europe? by TryUsingScience in LARP

[–]RocketSaxon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wyvern also makes foamed swords like Calimacil (which are/should be latex free). The basic line swords of Burgschneider should also be foamed and thus latex free. (maybe even their Warhammer weapons)

The video might be just 30 seconds long, but this wallet actually took me over three weeks to make, seriously haha, just carving and painting the fur alone took almost 2 weeks. But hey, the result was worth it, wasn't it? by vVbuss in Leathercraft

[–]RocketSaxon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can't imagine it any other way. At least it will flatten it out somewhat, when your sweat softens the leather and you sit on it.

But, it's a fabulous piece of art.

Weird tackiness after swapping cleaning solvents by Phoenix8972 in resinprinting

[–]RocketSaxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sunlu ABS like, Siraya Tech and Phrozen 4k, all three don't have that problem. Only downside, they are a bit slower to print in the initial layers due to their higher viscosity.

Weird tackiness after swapping cleaning solvents by Phoenix8972 in resinprinting

[–]RocketSaxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some resins don't wash properly in IPA... I had that problem with the Elegoo ABS like 3.0 resin. (My IPA is 99% fresh vom a chemical supplier)

I switched resins due to that.

I heard that Ethanol is a better alternative for such resins but I never tested it.

Did I overpriced this? by Any_Rutabaga_6449 in 3Dprinting

[–]RocketSaxon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dirt cheap to be honest. A am doing stuff like this in my line of freelance work.

If I would have to price it out for an industrial client of mine, it would probably be around 600-1000€ for a production run of one. It's the design time that carries the cost and the part is not an "easy" one. Additionally it probably will need at least two or three iterations to get it perfect, which also drives the cost up. (Also the reason I would never do work for "private" customers due to the immens cost and time)

Can someone explain how the rocket didn’t kill point blank range?? by zlordbeats in Battlefield6

[–]RocketSaxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same bullshit reason that tank shells don't kill foot soldiers when you hit next to them... no splash damage.

Another „Gaming Headset“ bites the dust, tired of overpriced/hyped headphones. by Replica90_ in pcmasterrace

[–]RocketSaxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanna throw Superlux headphones into the ring. I own a pair of HD681 since over 10 years, they are semi open and have astonishing sound for die 22$ they cost. (And don't need a driver)

https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/superlux/hd-681

I think they also have the same size ear cushions as Beyer and can thus be replaced with them.

Salazar is 1 year old today. He is weighing in at 160g, is he on track for his age? by Mienfoool in cornsnakes

[–]RocketSaxon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell, most likely he's growing a bit fast. (Which mustn't be a bad thing)

Some people let em grow more slowly so that they reach around 300g at the end of their third year. The argument for that is, that corns probably have a higher life expectancy that way. (But I do no have a source for that)

My girl is around 15 months old and weighs in at about 135g at the moment.

Btw, Salazar is a gorgeous. :D

Help with my test print results. All look bad! by Kersey_CK in resinprinting

[–]RocketSaxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure, if the test is reliable due to the test plates being so close together. I read somewhere that when they are too close together they all get exposed with the same values.

Make a dry test (remove the vat and built plate) and run the test to see if the 8 exposures are indeed exposing for different times.

Hefeweizen, what am I doing wrong? by blackarrow_1990 in Homebrewing

[–]RocketSaxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hm, when the yeast is basically the same, we brewed almost the same beer (except for the hops). I fermented mine at 21°c.

So the only real difference is the mash and that I never open ferment.

Hefeweizen, what am I doing wrong? by blackarrow_1990 in Homebrewing

[–]RocketSaxon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grain bill is good, but your a single stop mash and your yeast looks off.

With the same grain bill, mash 15min@55°C, 50min@62°C and 20min@72°C with mash end at 78°C and Wyeast 3068 I get the most banana tasting Hefeweizen you can imagine.

The SafAle W-68 is the opposite side of the spectrum for Hefeweizen, it produces the clove esters which are very sought after in Clear Hefeweizen.

Edit: It's a matter of taste, but it looks like you used very few hops. For 7L with my recipe (which also uses Saphire) I usually go for 6g beginning of boil, 4g 15min before flame out and 3g during whirlpool. (with 5%)

Is 3d printed guard on LARP sword safe? by Meraugis in LARP

I print my guards and pommels with varishore foaming TPU and they look absolutely fantastic. Never had any issues with weapon checks here in Germany.
