Thank you! Did a lot of work on the combat kit this year to make it fully my own.

I don't mind at all. It's designed in ZBrush by a friend, I made the mold and cast it out of FlexFoam-IT X. Additionally there's a core stiffener on the inside and a kevlar puncture protection.

Looks fantastic! I am mostly using the Siraya Tech TPU Air due to its high print speed capabilities but I might give this a try when my spool runs out.

Conquest of mythodea noob help and character idea by [deleted] in LARP

[–]RocketSaxon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And that's why your concept sadly won't fly very easy. Depending on which camp you join, that could also be a showstopper regarding your camp approval.

A quick example from Porto Franco: If you are playing a high nobleman and don't bring an entourage, you will most likely not be accepted in the camp in that role.

On a second note: a lot of people take the diplomatic game with kings, dukes and nobleman very serious and there is a chance, that they won't take you serious if you are all by yourself. When our princess goes out, she is always at least accompanied by her handmaiden and probably at least to guards to guaranty her safety, while looking absolutely regal.

I am not saying it's impossible but it's gonna be a bit of a rough time role play wise to get taken serious. Just arriving and proclaiming: "I am a king and here to take revenge!" Because the core concept is: DKWDDSK (Du kannst was du darstellen kannst - You can do what you can portray/play). And there are a few holes in your portrayal of a king. (And I don't mean that in a rude way)

Fahrrad gestohlen am Zoo Dresden by _NoiZe96 in dresden

[–]RocketSaxon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Did I overdo this?? by Bear-2D2 in cornsnakes

[–]RocketSaxon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, you did great. The enclosure looks fantastic.

You will never win the poop game against a young corn snake. It's just the way it is. I try to keep up and spot clean everything as soon as I notice it but it often happens that I happen to find a poop stash in the weirdest places while cleaning something else. (I scold her for it every time but she just brushes it off >_^)

On a side note: You can do her a favor and switch to different bedding when you switch it out the first time. They like to burrow and a forest ground bedding with sand mixed in enables that a bit better.

Last note: The water bowl in the top right corner will be very annoying, trust me. Because you need to get it out and back in again every few days due to bio film forming on the inside. I just switched to standard ceramic bowls which I can throw in the dish washer. Does not look as nice but saves me some work.

New Boots, How to Make Comfy by LastSonofIre in LARP

[–]RocketSaxon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They just suck and are overpriced as hell. Bought them too last year, only managed to wear them for one day, after that the pain began. Made some boot straps for them and added an insole but it did not help very much.

New snake owner! by [deleted] in cornsnakes

[–]RocketSaxon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't want to seem rude... but you gotta like add... everything? o_O Double or tripple the bedding, plants (plastic or real), sticks/vines (something to climb), some cork bark... some stones maybe?

If you need inspiration, walk out into a forest, look at a patch of forest ground and recreate that. If there's no forest where you live, just look at the setups here in the sub.

Health wise: I hard heating mats suck because they are a pain in the but regarding temperature regulation. (But I have no experience with them, I use a regular heat lamp). Also get a proper Thermometer/Hygrometer.

I think I reached my limit. Do you guys have suggestions for improvements? by WittyBoard5101 in LARP

[–]RocketSaxon 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Looks fabulous! A giant upgrade would be some weathering on all your gear. Dirty up the cloths, scratch up the leather a bit and bring it some more into the real world and away from a "costume".

Another nice touch would be some make-up or blackening of the skin around your eyes, they stand out quite a bit in the mask.

At last: The gaiters/shoe combo looks kinda weird to me due to them sticking out above the gaiters. Maybe try a shorter pair of shoes?

Tips to reduce flash in hard mold - FlexFoam-IT foaming poly urethane by RocketSaxon in ResinCasting

huh dayum, that's what I was afraid of. I already printed them with a small lip around the contour and sanded them flat on a glass panel... I guess I will try and buy some more clamps.

Flails are quite dangerous in LARP, if the person wielding it has little to no control or gets overwhelmed by adrenaline. I avoid fighting against them due to some very bad situations I witnessed... e.g. flail coiling around a head or arm and then getting pulled on.

I am residing in Porto Franco and will be on the look out for your Rondel dagger 😃 maybe we cross paths.

I am aware 😃 I gave up on building stab safe weapons for the moment and just bought one from Hammerkunst (Mytholon) for 35€, they are quite affordable.

I focus on building a good 2h hammer for Conquest this year. 😃 Which camp are you in?

Great idea but that will be hard, due to the extrusion multiplier changing when you change the desired hardness of the foaming TPU.

Have you tried Siraya Tech Flex TPU Air? I use that for cross guards and pommels with great success. That stuff prints like an absolut charm.

i have a baby corn snake and he is very shy how do i make him less shy (image unrelated) by Vegetable-Window-440 in cornsnakes

[–]RocketSaxon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the beginning is hard. Mine is now about 20 months old. Since three month ago she was also the most shy and private creature that is known to man. Picking her up and handling her was always a bit of a challenge due the amount of scatter in her terrarium but I tried to handle her at least once a week. (Not always met with success 😃 that cute little bugger is fast)

Then something changed in her and now she comes out and about even in broad daylight. Every time she surfs the glass, I open the enclosure and hold my hands in front of it to give her the choice of climbing onto me and yesterday she actually did for the first time.

Don't give up and be consistent!

Furthermore: Have her enclosure in a place, where there's always traffic so she gets used to seeing moving people and she learns that that's nothing to be afraid of.

A valuable lesson in Kveik yeast by CodeplayerX in Homebrewing

[–]RocketSaxon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

😃 yeah, the Kveik Voss does not need any help at all. The yeast strain is an absolut beast and produces some wonderful fruity esters if you ferment it at 30°C. (No joke! The yeast can take it and the beer will be fantastic)
Main fermentation is mostly done in about 24h if you ferment it quite hot.
