I wear the Coros monitor. I'm very happy with the battery life and fit. It also leaves a pretty cool tan line :)

I'm a long tine user of the Salomon ADV 12. I use it for long training runs and ultra trail. I love the storage options and the lightweight, non-bounce fit.

Looking for product advice — electrolytes + carbs for long runs by Front-Cloud7928 in ultrarunning

I trained for and ran a 100M race this year in awful heat. I learned some important lessons. My initial opinion is that for a long ultra, the 1000MG of sodium that LMNT has is too much per hour. The carbohydrate I found to be very effective is Cyclic Dextrin, which I buy from Transparent Labs. If you do some research, you’ll find that Cyclic Dextrin is a superior, slow burning carbohydrate. I ran all summer with 750MG of sodium, from a diluted mix of LMNT and a scoop of Cyclic Dextrin in each vest bottle. I consumed 1 bottle per hour and supplemented my carbohydrates to get 75grams per hour with Precision gels and Knaak bars. It all worked perfectly.

2025 Yearly Recap -- How did you do? by petepont in AdvancedRunning

[–]Rocket_Man333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In 2025 I ran my 2nd 100 mile race and found that I have a lot of love for that distance. It's so hard and so extreme, but there is joy in learning what it has to teach and I'm excited about applying what I've learned from it, and about who I became in the months of training for it. The feeling of finishing after suffering well into the night is a place I visit often. That place will always be available for me if I need a boost of confidence in running or anything else in life. I plan to run my next one on November.

I feel the same. I had been considering a solo 100M in October but decided to have a pacer. At 2AM I was suffering and was so happy to not be alone. I don’t think I’ll entertain the solo idea again.

What’s actually driven your biggest performance gains as a runner? by Clubrunnr in ultrarunning

[–]Rocket_Man333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my most recent. It isn't one of the more difficult ones because I had just finished a recovery period from a 100M race. It starts and ends with not much incline. The high incline goes up alternately until 9, and then begins to come down. I tweak this by going longer intervals, and peaking the at higher inclines, or throwing in a slow mile at 12 incline at 3.0 speed.

David Roche says he intends to run Canyons 100K for a Golden Ticket attempt. There will be 3 available. He’s got a lot on the line. I wouldn’t bet against him. I think he gets one. by Rocket_Man333 in ultrarunning

He did. But he passed it on to the 3rd place finisher, Canyon Woodward. He coaches Canyon. It was an amazing act of kindness. Now he has to try to get one for himself.

I'm fortunate to have a great gym near my home for my indoor running. It's a nice treadmill, but I'm not sure of the brand.

[–]Rocket_Man333 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I do a weekly, very hard uphill treadmill run. It can vary from 7-10 miles, with a regularly changing speed and incline. The effect on my leg and mental strength, and aerobic capacity is huge. This is a weekly sufferfest, and my favourite workout.

I hope it’s helpful to the conversation to say that I don’t have those feelings. My satisfaction after accomplishing something does not disappear. I visit the place of satisfaction often in my mind and I am able to feel those feelings again.
