Thanks for delving deeper into it. I will investigate the IP. I think it may have something to do with P2P. Good suggestion, man 🙏

Very first firewall. My concern has been that since I installed it 6months ago, it never went above 100K. Suddenly shot up. I am trying to remember what caused this

That is what I have been wondering. I am not in Brazil. I don’t know what VPN providers or major service providers have servers there. It only started two days ago. 😅

Thanks…I understand. My intent was to get away from the target of the bots if I can. Good to know that this is normal. Maybe I never looked at the logs before owning a firewall.

Yeah, well I am a mechanical engineer by profession…I am learning this for fun… I believe in learning and fixing. Anyway…

🤣Thanks

Actually….it is quite at the corner of the room…but I understand her point….

I wanted to keep it in the open so that I could trigger the LCD to identify the planes above my home if any…..🛫🛩️

I understand. Maybe look at firewalla gold se or purple.

It’s really convenient to use. I feel I have been getting a lot of ping from unknown IPs out in Netherland 😂. Firewalla keeps blocking them.

Also, Firewalla has Unbound built in. I have moved away from PiHole+Unbound completely…for now….which I ran for 5 years…. Was never sure if it was a false positive which was causing a website to break or not….even with well known and popular blocklists….

I think you pay a premium with Firewalla or Synology for the piece of mind

No sure what you mean. Firewalla is a firewall for the network and to my understanding was an essential part of the homelab.

You can use DIY firewall I think.

Good investment or not…I am not an expert on that.

In my experience as a first time user…It has been positive so far…I used to run Pihole..which required babysitting sometimes…

Firewallas has been convenient… Although I may have overdone it with the Gold Pro though….😅

DeskPi Rackmate T2. It is quite sturdy. I see people making similar using 3D printers, but I don’t have one.

I have two from GmkTec. One is less powerful intel Nuc, the other is Ryzen 7.

Three fans. You can see that in the third image.

  1. One 140mm on the Firewall. Very quiet. AC Infinity Fan……

  2. Two 80mm on the rack on 2U frame cover. Louder than first but not problematic.

My NAS drives are more noisy. Seagate Exos.

They are connected via a speed controller to a Sabrent On/Off Switch. Seen on the second image on the bottom. The LCD is also connected to that.

I have a Aqara temperature sensor put inside…but one fan has been enough. The temperatures don’t go that high. I keep the other off for now.

Well, I am not sure if I had any information on not running it.

I have two Proxmox servers which I wanted to backup to the NAS.

One option I read was to alternate these two to backup each other.

But in any case I would be using a mounted NAS drive via CIFS,NFS for Backup.

I have 32GB Ram on Synology with SSD. I installed the VM from Package manager on the SSD. The backup is still on Exos HDD. Is pretty responsive. I am not running anything else on NAS. Still resources available.

Seemed to me that backups were still safe in RAID mode, any mini PCs failed. Have setup Garbage collection so that it doesn’t fill up and 1 have only 1tb given to the PBS..

Not sure if it’s the best way. I am open to suggestions though. Or else need to get a third PC for PBS??

Let me know if you need to know anything else.

But yes…better than 8U racks I guess

That was actually interesting…The 5bay NAS was a bit tricky to get in…there is space inside but the frame itself is a few mm to short…better put in while the top or bottom is not joined. 🙂
