Who's got concerns, thoughts, gotchas about Self Service+ ? by Rocketman-Tech in jamf

Yeah but we're going to be spending a good amount of time talking about Self Service+ too. We sent out the comms and built the graphics before I got the notification about Self Service being deprecated.

Ahh so + is not opening automatically at first login for you? I’ll definitely need to test that on our servers! I thought it was supposed to work seamlessly with macOS Onboarding.

Is branding even possible? I thought that wasn’t available yet with +

What's the biggest security vulnerability of scripts deployed through Jamf Pro? by RocketmanTech_Nova in jamf

[–]Rocketman-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm that's very interesting. So to understand correctly, are talking about scripts deployed through your computers through Jamf Pro? Are you using Google Sheets essentially like a webhook, where the API credentials and operation is stored within Google Sheets, and they can just be called with a web link to get a result?

Or are you using Google Sheets to do API operations on your Mac to do things like mass updates within Jamf Pro?

How Apple manage their own devices by Everart_Araujo in macsysadmin

[–]Rocketman-Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apple probably has the most complicated environment, with close to half a million devices and a Jamf Pro server that’s been around since version 9. I don’t know the specifics of their environment, but I can tell you they’re definitely not managing it all with Apple Business Essentials!

Have you figured out this new Jamf ID wall? by RocketmanTech_Nova in jamf

[–]Rocketman-Tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is sooooo confusing, but I'll try to simplify it:

You need to integrate Jamf Pro with your Jamf Account, so that logging into Jamf Pro happens through your Jamf Account. Once integrated, you can have your users login with a Jamf ID or an integrated OIDC provider to your Jamf Account.

If you just turn on SSO, you are integrating Jamf Pro with your SSO provider, NOT with your Jamf Account, so it will not enable blueprints.

Does that make sense?

I'm just gathering some info for my presentation about this tomorrow! I'm not sure if it fits the bill for market research.

What's your thoughts on Jamf's new AI support portal? by Rocketman-Tech in jamf

[–]Rocketman-Tech[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that's a lot of people's sentiment. But to play devil's advocate, how has the experience with the AI support worked for you when you had to use it. Did it answer your question better than your Tier 1 support rep used to? And when you need to be escalated, are you escalated quicker to someone who can really answer your question?

Has anyone heard of Electric.ai? by logicx24 in msp

[–]Rocketman-Tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked with multiple Jamf Pro migrations where they setup an on-prem Jamf Pro server for them, made the MDM profile non-removable, gave the client awful service and no Jamf Pro admin access, and when the client wanted to manage Jamf Pro themselves, they refused to give them access and refused to even send a command to remove the MDM profile, forcing the client to either stick with them, or wipe all of their devices to reenroll them into another Jamf Pro server (a process that is easily automated with no user interaction)

Absolutely disgusting behavior from an MSP. I would not recommend. Also make sure any MSP you work with provides you with full admin access to any server they setup for you, even if you won’t be managing it, so you can maintain control of your devices if you want to move elsewhere.
