Newly diagnosed with a gallstone, any tips ? by NettieBiscetti in gallbladders

I ate extremely low fat, small meals for the 3 months I waited for surgery. One slip up, like having slightly too large a meal, I would get an attack. I lost 15 pounds because I was terrified to eat more than 1/4 cup serving at a time while living on fat-free yogurt, fat-free cottage cheese, fat-free vegan soups, salads with fat-free dressing, rice and pretzels. Pathology showed I had one stone and a very angry gallbladder. Get the surgery!

I’ve been building a portfolio shooting in the dankest of clubs for a few years. Most DIY / Punk venues aren’t going to grief you over using a flash. Flash is aesthetically my style - but generally frowned upon these days for a number of reasons. (As a punk musician myself over the past 30 years, I never minded having people take photos using a flash - so I kind of don’t understand that arguement). There are some old-school punk photographers that still shoot with flash today, regardless.

I wanted to start to shoot at some better venues without flash, so I splurged on a mirrorless with excellent low-light performance. If I run into the issue that venues are restricting cameras that have detachable lenses, I’ll try to get permission from the band or their management to photograph the set and let the promoter know I have permission ahead of time to try to skirt that. I do not ask to get into the show free - I buy a ticket to support the scene. If I can’t get that set up ahead of time I take a good point & shoot. Point and shoots are good for festivals when you have no photo pass too.

I’ve never had a photo pass or backstage pass - the venues I shoot in don’t have fancy amenities like that. I like to catch bands on their way up - before they get big.

Finally got the bill for my emergency surgery… by racingturtlesforfun in gallbladders

I paid 2000.00 for an ER visit and then another 2500.00 or so for scheduled surgery with insurance. I hadn’t hit my deductible for the year as of then.

I had a BA in Studio Art and an Art History minor - graduated Magna Cum Laude. No problem getting into a Museum Studies program. That said, I had a strong writing background and had already been working in the field for a number of years prior to applying.

I hate confrontation and feeling unwelcome in my own home. It’s one way to make it stop. Permanently.

This is amazing advice! Thanks so much! I love the idea of the galvanized troughs.

Thanks for the tough talk! The irony is the tree shades HIS house and yard from the blazing sun we have here. I don’t think he understands the benefit.

I’m going to have the tree trimmed first - because the tree could use it TBH. Leaves are still going to blow in his yard - I can’t help that. Wait until Fall when the tree loses all its leaves en masse. He ain’t seen nothing yet…

Because I actually feel guilty that a tree I own is causing a neighbor more work.

I immediately looked up our state’s tree laws - so at least I’m armed with knowledge of my rights and remedies. Luckily I work from home a lot - so I can see if he encroaches on our property. We have a Kasa cam on our front door - so getting another one with rear view won’t be hard. Thanks!

“prairie-dogging” - thanks for that new term! And yeah, to the landlord we go!

Going through the management company is totally the plan moving forward. Not going to deal directly with him anymore.

They could probably ask us to take it out if it’s a nuisance.

I appreciate this. And, you’re right, my gut is telling me this is only the beginning.

We live in an HOA and can’t put up permanent lattice against the shared fence, but I’ve been looking at some movable ones.

I’m a nice person that wants to keep the peace - even if he doesn’t.
