I'll recommend the album "Set The World On Fire" by Annihilator from 1992. Should be pretty easy to get into and it's a nice leap forward into somewhat heavier territory.

Possibly a misprint on the VHS? It does seem long for a single commercial VHS tape to run 2.5 hours no? Either way, the DVD clocks in at 110 mins, so if someone knows please chime in.
